Pierce just lacks a little bit of quickness, and hes not a world class athlete like Wade, Lebron, Tmac, Kobe, .. Doesn't have as accurate of a shot like Ray Allen, Redd..
Doesn't play D like Artest, Bowen
But i think he is an underrated defender.. A good enough shooter, fast enough, quick enough, strong enough.. I like him a lot, i don't think he has the upsides of the Wade, Lebron and them.. thats why is he "underrated"
He's a good shooter, a very aware defender, and actually he is underrated. The coaches were thinking about trading him, and like a couple weeks ago it was all over nba tv, and they occasionally talk about it every now and then.
Like, that retarted italian guy from new york who thinks vince carter is god. His name is like Peter something. That guy on nba tv underrates the CRAP outa Pierce, and so does SportCenter and tv commentators. I mean, in a couple of years, the celtics are gonna be incredible.
C'mon now. Look at their bench. Al Jefferson, GERALD GREEN, Tony Allen, DELONTE WEST (well he starts now but he's amazing), Kendric Perkins who had 20 rebounds the other day, and Orien Greene. They'll be a championship calibur team in years to come, but for now, they need to keep Paul Pierce, because he's tremendously talented team leader, and he shows all of the little/young guys all of the things that they need to know.
He's almost 29, and he's kinda gettin old. Seemed like after 2003, when he stop doing crazy highflyer dunks he was outa his prime. He doesn'y drive as much as he used to, he doesn't cut as much as he used to, he doesn't have the same deadly range from beyond the ark, he isn't as quick or as fast as he used to be, but he's A LOT smarter than he used to be. And he's A LOT stronger than he used to be. Jesus christ, he never falls down, and if he does, he gets right back up, and if he gets fouled shooting he can ALWAYS keep control of the ball and put it in the hoop.
Going a little off topic here, I do think this guy underrated. Look at the All Star votes. Basically the only people he gets votes from are the people in Boston, Massachusetts.
Look at dwayne, lebron, kobe and all those guys. Everyone across the country votes for them.
I just think in order for Paul Pierce to be a little more recognized, he needs to have a winning team like he did in 2002 and just OWNED the playoffs. Some day, some time soon, the celtics will be a great team, and Paul Pierce will get all of the recognition he needs in order to be a starter for the eastern all stars, and be an mvp candidate.
