I think with the way i shoot in recreational courts, all it would take would be maybe just slightly more power to shoot the three or maybe i can actually just take my normal shot and still be able to hit a NBA three.

The three point lines in rec centres and school and collge are all 19 away in the nba its 5 ft out more.

Yes!!! It does appear much bigger on TV! It always appeared that players were shooting 3 pt shots from extremely long distances, but in all reality, when I measured it on my own basketball 'court' , it was not that far. I was able to shoot and reach the rim with relative ease (for someone who has never played on a team before) and made quite a few shots... it's much closer than I thought it was for sure.

So I'm not the only one. Good. Yeah, I screwed up, it's not 29 feet  , but whatever. How NBA guys play with 10 huge guys on the court still evades me, they must be a lot better than I though with their court vision.

to those who used my quote and made me look stupid (hipn, and air edwards), congrats, i think you just owned me  i deffinately underestimated the distance of the 3 point line. However, at the two raptors game i was at this season (against the clippers sunday a week ago and against the trailblazers this past sunday), after the game, i got as close as possible to the court as possible, like 4 rows away from the court, the court and three point line seem ridiculously closer than as if you were watching it on tv. so with that, id say i probably can hit a college three with a little more than my normal shot, but with the nba three, ill probably need to jump, as i usually just shoot set.

I think, and I said THINK, that the NBA 3 seemes far once you actually GET ONTO the court.

it does. It really does.

I must be used to it then, with it painted on my driveway and all, because I don't think it's far.

I mean its not like a huge distance.... but on a JR. High court its probably around where the outside circle is at center court.

It's 25 feet I think. If not, I might have been shooting longer than actual length.

Three point line is 23'9''. And of course the court seems smaller, these guys are huge. I remember watching Jalen Rose in a Raps game from the box seats, but I caught a glimpse of him near the end of the game courtside. He was pretty freaking tall. Its all relative.

Hehe I remember running into Doug Christie a few years ago... Dude seemed huge. Scarey that I'm almost as tall as him now.

Doug Christie's not huge is he?

I thought he'd only be 6'4- 6'6.

No but when you're a 5'5 8th grader who weighed close to 80 pounds, he seemed pretty huge.

Freshman year I was 5'10 and 105 lbs or so...

Last year I was 6'2 and 175 lbs...

This year I'm 6'4 and 170 lbs... up till a week ago before I went to dentists and caught the flu... I'm 155lbs now.

Shit, that's brutal to lose 15 lbs so quickly.

Our college court and NBA courts (and college courts everywhere) are regulation 94 by 50 feet, but I agree, when you see it on TV as opposed to up close, if looks like there's no way that the two are the same.

But it is, and an NBA three is like a big step behind the college three, but it looks farther on TV.

Yeah I know... I haven't eaten much in the past week... I had to go into the dentist three times because my molars came out bad (they already had cavities in them when they came out)... and then i would go back to the gym like normal and stuff, so I'm basically burning calories and not eating... I haven't eaten much in the past week... maybe a third of what I normally do... cuz of the flu and my mouth was sore like a fucker.

Once I get my energy back I should be able to dunk a lot easier tho... :P

Yes, everywhere except the corners are 23'9.

The corners are a little closer.
