Everyone says that it's his focus that allows him to achieve things like the 81 pt game and all the game winning shots. All that focusing ever got me was a headache

Yes, I think it is possible. I the player, the coach and esp the fans wanted it.
In the game where he made 62, he did not play the last quarter. So i guess if he'd take all the shots, he could've made 80 or more, it's possible to even get 100.
But i were guarding kobe, i'd be thinking of fouling him hard. Nothing short of actually breaking his legs. Heck no, I'm note going to be some footnote.
Right now, kobe has a big bright red target on his back. All the lakers opponents would be focused on him. so it's definitely time for odom, brown and george to put up serious numbers.

Hell what I hate most is that everyone says Jordan couldn't do it..STFU Jordan could've easily EASILY score 81 if he set his mind like Kobe. It's not like Kobe doesn't have bad teammates, it's not like he didn't plan it out...I bet in the offseason Kobe was determine reach his own personal record- probably a scoring title, having the most 60 pts game in a regular season or something like that.
What amazes me even more is that in Kobe never even mentions his teammates about his 81 point game....that just disguses me.

If I read correctly, I think he referred to his teammates as "lethargic."

You pretty much just said he has bad teammates so I don't know what the hell you are talking about. I don't think Kobe wants to reach personal goals, he is just doing everything in his power to try to help the team reach their goals. If you hadn't noticed he has the team above 500. I don't think he is doing it just for himself.....

Thats the same thing I thought when I saw it first the other day. I think they were bumping chests but the camera has worked its magic to make it imply something else.

... but he didn't, so quiet you. I can't think of anyone saying he couldn't do it, hell, people are saying he would've easily scored 100 if it wasn't for the handcheck rule

forgetting that defenders would be called for fouls just for being in the vicinity of him.

The Black Death, can you hook me up with the filefront links bro?

Well, the game was a lot more phsyical then. Like it or not, I'm sure you don't because everything has to be pro Kobe.
Tue Jan 31, 2006 2:33 am
Don't be a tool. Not everything has to be pro Kobe, but you can't deny MJ got alot of favourable calls. Hell, even Magic Johnson cracked a joke about it during the Olympics. I can't see anywhere where I said the game wasn't physical back then, but of course you've obviously seen that in there somewhere. Nice job.

Let's not get into name-calling.
MJ got favorable calls, but so do a lot of stars. That's not anything new.
The truth is we'll never know how MJ would have done with today's rules. So it's pointless to even debate it.
But today's game is easier to score. Yeah every game isn't 129 to 125, but that's because everyone doesn't take advantage of the new rules, but today's NBA is much more offense friendly.

Where did I call you a name? I pre-warned you to not become a tool, but I didn't actually call you one.

Geez... that was my point all along. Why did you reply in the first place if that's what you were thinking the whole time?
Tue Jan 31, 2006 2:43 pm
In fairness, he didn't actually accuse you of name-calling either.
Jordan, in the 2002-2003 season, averaged over 20 points per game AND dropped 50 in a game at 41 years old...and you guys are actually debating whether or not he could dominate today if he was in his prime?

That's a good point. Either way, it's not going to tarnish Jordan's legacy as one of the greatest scorers in history, since he was able to consistently drop well above the 30's per game. Imo, that's more impressive than the 81 point game.

I don't think anyone's suggesting that at all. Unless I've missed some posts.

Well, I was just agreeing with whoever said the game was a lot more physical in the 80s and 90s than it is now.

Kobe says his 81 point performance is 'personally embarassing.'

EGarrett: it was 2001-2002; he was 39, 51 points.
his season high in 02-03 was 45 against New Orleans, coincidentally, the same Hornets team he torched the year before. his 2nd highest point total in 02-03 was against the nets where he scored 43 and ironically once again, he torched them the year before with 45.

black deatH?
Thu Feb 02, 2006 12:20 pm
pm him.
If kobe surpasses the 50 point barrier again this season he should be handed the mvp trophy after the game regardless of whether the season is over or not , because at that point he will have clinched it. The other 2 runners in the race at this point , LeBron and Chauncey , don't come even close to what Bryant has done.
Thu Feb 02, 2006 1:51 pm
But Bryant's team doesn't even come close to the other candidates' teams.
