Rob Babcock Fired

I dunno...i thought his picks were a bit weak, not total busts but not great either, considering Bosh could be playing with Channing Frye & Danny Granger right now.

Odd timing in a sense, but given the high standards imposed upon the front office of NBA teams it's not surprising. He's made some blunders, the Raptors are 14-29 despite a couple of good moves this past offseason and the reaction to his decisions by the Raptors' fanbase has made keeping him in power bad PR.

Yes I am saying Joey Grahm is so-so. He isn't doing taht great like people expected him to. No one was expecting him to become like Lebron James or anything, but they expected him to become a good defender and a good offensive player. He might have skill, but he sure isn't showing a lot on the court. I know it's his first season and he is adjusting, so w/e.

And as for the VC trade, we could've gotten Ray Allen.

Babcock shouldn't of traded VC to NJ because they are a contender or atleast in the same division as the Raptors and your don't want the teams in your division to have a good team. But he traded VC to NJ, and because of that, NJ has Kidd, JEfferson, and Carter. And Babcock knew Zo wouldn't of worn a RAptors uniform anyway, so that trade was extremly pointless, and THEN he bought out Zo's contract.

Do you think if Ray Allen for Vince was actually an offer it would've been taken? Vince was sabotaging the entire organisation and not putting up much more than 14ppg. If you want to blame anyone for the garbage Carter trade, blame Vince.

vince was the main reason that they didn't get a trade but i still think that they should have got more draft picks out of the trade....

Didnt channing frye REFUSE to work with us? I remember someone saying that Frye only wanted to get drafted by the Knicks and somewhere else that Granger was somewhat relieved that he didnt get drafted by us. We did fairly well getting Joey and Charlie, AND getting Roko Ukic at 41st despite him being thought to be a mid first rounder and possibly our 16th pick. The players we drafted WANTED to play for us. As its_asdf said, he was hired right before the draft so he didnt have much choice (im still hopeful on Araujo btw, if Dalembert and Chandler are worth about 10mil, then araujo is atleast worth league minimum). Babcock did well in the 2005 draft and offseason, but the team has been doing pretty bad and couldnt look past the fact that he had a bad 04-05. He wasnt great but he somewhat fixed his mistakes during the past offseason, so i cant totally hate or like him.

Look at the draft. Who else could we have gotten besides Graham? Granger is doing fairly well but he's probably the only exception.

Gerald Green's a D-Leaguer, Hakim Warrick is a tweener, Julius Hodge can't make shots, we were going to pick up Calderon so drafting Nate Robinson or Jarrett Jack wasn't necessary. Look at what we had to choose for the draft. We could have drafted either Graham or Granger because we obviously needed NBA-ready talent, so we took Graham. If your talking about "expectations", then look at all the other rookies drafted after him and some before him, they're putting up stats that aren't that out of reach for him.

I'm also tired of people saying that we could've got something better, because thats a flaming crock of shit. I don't know how many times I'm going to say this, but look at his damn stats! He averaged about 15ppg, 3 rebounds and 3 assists for christ sakes. Who would want to take a gamble at a player with a max contract, shoots jumpers all day and worst of all, bails out on a team in thier time of need. His value was attrocious at the time, and we probably wouldn't have gotten anything better.

Sure we could have traded Carter during the off-season, but during his charity game he assured the fans that he did not want to be traded and that he wanted to stay as a Raptor. So much for that, huh?
