Duncan deserves to start. But actually, I think Kevin Garnett should start over him because he's more exciting than him.
Fri Jan 20, 2006 10:10 pm
He's a class act and he deserves it.
That's exactly my thought on Duncan.
Fri Jan 20, 2006 11:25 pm
Life is unfair, though. He deserves it, but there's a good chance he won't. Which is too bad, since he's the nicest guy in the NBA (besides Yao).

Nice guys finish last.

Duncan? My guess is he'll be the starter when all is done.
nice guys finish last
Only if they're running the wrong way.

Nice guys finish last.
Take a look at the 2003 NBA champions, and you'll see yourself proved wrong.

2003? You mean 3 years ago? I try and live in the present.

Hmmm... how about 2005?
Fri Jan 20, 2006 11:51 pm
That's closer, but even still it's not as if the entire Spurs team were nice guys.
Any further issues with "nice guys finish last", take it up with Green Day. That's where I stole it.

David Robinson and Tim Duncan. The two best guys in basketball at the time winning the championship. The ultimate feel-good moment of basketball.
Fri Jan 20, 2006 11:53 pm
Statistically, Garnett is better than Duncan. If it is all about record then a lot of deserving players shouldn't make the all-star team. So because Garnett has less scoring options he should average 26ppg? He only takes 15-16 shots a game. How many times have you looked at the Timberwolves box score and KG is 10/16 or something like that for 22 points? He runs the offense through him and that means he must get others involved.
Plus, if Duncan has so many more scoring options why does KG average 2 more assists per game?

Nimrod??? haha, I remember that. Used to own that album. Although it is definitely not their line, hehe.

TD and Gino are, TP might be (if not for that Longoria-policeman incident, he'd be surefire), Mohammed is a poodle, Nesterovic is ... white

, Marks has to be, sitting on the bench all these years and never complaining.
No one is on the dark side, except maybe Bowen. But he's the exception that verifies the rule.

I was actually talking about just Robinson and Duncan in 2003.

Gino flops, therefore he cant be a nice guy.
Duncan isnt the nicest guy in the NBA.

yes, that's the equivalent of 2nd degree murder or child abuse.
Sat Jan 21, 2006 7:30 am
Like every person who isn't nice abuses children or kills people...
Sat Jan 21, 2006 7:41 am
anyways... does anyone think the League would start TD, KG and Tmac in the frontcourt?
Lol, didnt you read what andrew posted 3 posts before you?
Depending on the status of Yao Ming, it might not matter. If he has to sit out the ASG I'd expect all three of those guys to start, with whoever's left out being nominated as the replacement starter.

And TD has Gino, TP and Finley to score points that get deducted from his totals. All KG has is Wally. Plus he's almost 2rpg down from last year.
you can say that point makes a better case for Garnett as being "better"
As Riot pointed out, Garnett is the focus of the T'wolve offense and opponents defense and doesn't have the weapons Duncan's has.

You know Gino is white too?
And Tony also... well.... he's more like brown

Vote Bosh and Tony Parker!!!

Then why does Garnett have nearly 2 more assists per game? Who does he have to pass to.
Garnett is playing better than Duncan. Just because Duncan
might be playing better if he wasn't injured doesn't mean he should be voted in over Garnett. The all-star game is judged on how they
are playing, not how they
could be playing.

I was answering to the previous point which was stat-driven. So I stated my case, did I not?
Garnett is the focus of the T'wolve offense and opponents defense and doesn't have the weapons Duncan's has.
So the mere fact that he wishes to involve everybody else when 'everybody else' is just plain NOT THERE, should count in favor of KG?
Duncan does his job better (he wins), his stats are almost equal to thos eof KG, and there are many players in SA who fill up the stat sheets themselves. That must be saying something about Timmy, right?
Then why does Garnett have nearly 2 more assists per game? Who does he have to pass to.
See above. If he has NOONE to pass to, then why does he not score more for his team to win?
The all-star game is judged on how they are playing, not how they could be playing.
That's way off. If that was the case, Yao and Shaq would not be starting, VC and Hill would not be in the game last year, and so on... In teh end, it's all about who the fans LIKE.

The all-star game that we've been talking about is judged on how they
are playing. The actual voting is 100% a popularity contest. But the players the coaches vote in are not the ones that could be playing well.
See above. If he has NOONE to pass to, then why does he not score more for his team to win?
He does score more. 2 more points and 2 more assists. So he has worse teammates and scores more on a better fg% (by 4%), yet still finds away to get worse players better shots than Duncan gets his better teammates.

...or simply Kg has only wally to share points with, all the while Td has Manu, Finley, and Parker, and he still puts up 20+ ppg, only 2 shy of KG.
