One more thing, given that he's pres of players association, he's got greater responsibility therefore a chance at a harsher punishment.

I'm guessing 5 games, more than what he would have gotten for an all out brawl with another player.

*Everyone* is going to be on AD's side on this one, Stern is going to bring his player relationship to an all time low if he kneejerks this.

But he didn't have a brawl, period. He didn't even touch anyone.

I'd say a 1 or 2 game suspension is more than enough.

Man , I'm behind AD 100% . I was watching the game when it happened . At first I was like wtf but then I found out it was his family so I understood. Sad loss for the Knicks , great game I must say though . Jamaal Crawford made an unbelievly unbalanced 3 pointer to tie the game , but Gordon :x killed it for us . Mo Taylor and Duhon also got ejected.

Stern is a dickhead though... he'll probably hand out a fine and a suspension longer than necessary.

Family comes first always, and when the security at the arena isnt good enough it forces the players to do whatever it takes to protect themselves and their families. But how about talking about the great game between the bulls and the knicks? Why was it that ESPN decidied to spend 5 + minutes at the start of sportscenter reliving the brawl at the palalce and comparing the two situations? Why cant they talk about the game first? We as fans are sick of this soap opera shit that espn is trying to ram down our throats. Whether its T.O., Artest, or this incident, or Larry Brown or whatever; the game should always come first.

The only sports that arent are college basketball, and most of the time NFL and College Football. I guess they want the mindless fans to view the nba as an out of control league and the other sports to be viewed more positively. It's pathetic.

100% agree. except the security thing...

actually a security officer was already in the aisle before Davis got there

considering the seat where the incident occurred- the 100 section located behind the press box (not too far from the court) and the incident occurred during a timeout (unlike the Artest thing where the situation had already escalated due to Wallace pushing Artest) i thought the repsonse time was good

Yea I was watching the game and the idiot was flailing his arms like a maniac. Probably trying to inform a security guard that the incident was happening there.

The guy's planning to sue Antonio Davis for slander (he wasn't drunk) and his wife because supposedly she attacked him. Another excuse for money?

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2298240

Anyway, it's so blown out of proportion. He just went up to see what's up, then went back down in a calm manner. He should just get a one game suspension for "breaking the rules" to keep the players in line, but really, he doesn't deserve any more than that.

If thats true, then good for him.

If he wasn't drunk, and can prove it (there are pleanty of tapes), and can prove that davis' wife started it, then I hope he gets all of the money he can get out of davis.

some of you guys amaze me. would you guys have preferred the guy in the blue to start punching Davis or throw beer/popcorn/a chair at him instead?

apparently, Kendra Davis has been invovled in other incidents, such as getting in a shouting match with Latrell Sprewell during a game.

As the article points out is, the guy filing the law suit is a son of a very powerful political consultant. I don't think this is being done just for the money

should have been just a 1 game suspension. Davis should appeal though i wonder how that will work out since he'd be consulting himself, being the president of the players association and all

Well, If i was AD, I'd porbably do it in such a worse way...

Now, 5 games is big, but in the place of Stern, I would have done the same. AD's being prez is an advantage and not at the same, first it is cause Stern won'T want to get beef with the NBPA (is that it), then second, it's not cause he's like an example.

But... rules are rules.

I think that 2 to 3 games would have been enough. If you check in RealGM, the poll says that most people want him to be banned 15+ games  ouch...

At least it's better than the 8 games Chris Sheridan recommends. Still, I'm hoping he'll appeal and get it down to 2 or something. If the lawsuit action is true against Davis for claiming the guy was drunk when he really was not, then keep it at 5 games.

I agree, 5 seems like too much. I thought he would get a 2-game for that one. The NBA needs to revise how exactly they approach situations like these.
