I've never been a janitor but I don't think it is as demanding as being a professional basketball player, especially a big man.

You consider Odom, Jefferson and Boozer role-players. You know what, that is exactly why USA lost, you're absolutely right. When All-Star caliber players like the above are reduced to role-playing, then the team can't possibly have any semblance of chemistry. By role players I meant specialized defenders, shooters, big bodies on defense, etc...



About the Garnett issue, I agree with Riot. Yes, he has life 'easy', he does the thing he loves and gets paid by the bundle to do it. By why should he feel compelled to represent his country in a basketball tournament, when he can spend a quality month with his family? I know I would not.

I have no problem with making a group of superstars, as long as they're given time to gel. The last two US teams(one Olympic, one World Championship) were given very little time to gel together. As long as there's one shooter, this team could be unbeatable.

And I like the choice of Lebron. He didn't get much playing last time and he's improved his shooting/outside shooting a lot since then.

True. Problem is, he seems to think so as well every time he steps on a court. That's why the 'kobe scoring 50-team loses' combination is getting none the rarer.

Fact 1: He IS the best individual talent in the league.

Fact 2: He's an instinct-driven animal, on the court at least. That might work in the jungle, but not in anyplace where 'playbooks' are involved.

Fact 3: If Kobe is on Team USA, he will monopolise the offense. Even If God himself was playing Center, he wouldn't get many entry passes from Bryant. Any player monopolising the offense on the international scene=80% chance his team loses.

Kobe dominates the ball in LA because he has to. There is no way in hell Kobe will do that in the US team: one, because he has competent teammates to pass the ball to and two, because he will get taken off the instant that he starts to "monopolise" the offense.
