Great, another star-ladden team with no chemistry in the works. Just announce the role players first...

I'll be waiting on them to ask Battier to join. And they better grab some shooters and some more in-your-face type of players. They have two superstars on the team, and I think thats enough.

haha this is gonna be good. they really should get more players like battier as mafia said. players who can give it 120% and contribute to what the team needs...

but if usa wanna recruit superstar and fuck up like last olympics, i have no problems with that

Kevin Garnett has declined the invite from Team USA to join the team in 2008. Wally Szczerbiak wants to join the team and he plans to sit down with the committee people soon.

I think Mafia is exactly right. Guys like Shane Battier, Jeff Foster, Trenton Hassel, Marcus Camby, Shawn Marion, etc. should play.

LBJ is a good choice for one of the team's stars, though. team player above everything. As long as there are more role players than All-Stars among the other 11, thsi team sshould do fine.

What the fuck is this? Lebron gets criticised for wanting to represent his country? Talk about a generation of haters.
Great, another star-ladden team with no chemistry in the works. Just announce the role players first..

The reason team usa lost in athens was they relied on their role players too much. Carlos Boozer, Lamar Odom and Jefferson all got more minutes than wade or Melo. Thats what killed the team. If they had gone to a lineup of duncan, lebron, wade, iverosn and marbury i dont think they would of lost ( i know its a "small" team by the nba's standards, but they would still be big enough to beat the rest of the world plus they are more skilled and there is a zone as well).

Kevin Garnett has declined the invite from Team USA to join the team in 2008.

What patriotism! I guess he needs a break from missing the playoffs again  .

Lebron deserves it. I mean look at him, he is clearly a superstar, he is clearly better than Kobe as in his 3rd season.

Or perhaps he realizes he will be 32-33 years old in 2008? He already won a gold medal in the Olympics, there is no reason for him to go overseas now and risk his body. He just doesn't want to go. Why is that so bad? It is a free country and has the ability to play if he wants to. He likes to rest a little bit in the summer, take a vacation and then work out away from basketball.

Matthew, do you just look for a reason to bitch? God damn.

I said he declined his invite to join the Olympic team. I thought it was on topic. Then you had to come in and say he isn't a patriot because he doesn't want to spend his free time playing basketball overseas when he is 32 years old. Not to mention the fact that he already has a gold medal.

Well its not patriotic; to not help out your country when it needs you. How many times did David Robinson appear in the olympics? If you love the game, why back out of it? I understand its his choice and all that, but seriously, whats the excuse to not play? It's not like he's going through long playoff wars each and every season the way Jordan was (who still participated in 92). Theres nothing positive that I can say about his lack of participation in the 2008 games, and no amount of excuses you come up with will justify it.

It's a FUCKING GAME. He spent 4-5 months (or more) playing basketball as a living. Sue him if he wants to spend a little time with his family and spend some time away from basketball. David Robinson was patrotic, but that doesn't mean Garnett isn't.

That is like saying only people who join the military are patriotic.

Really? I had no idea basketball is a game... I wonder why team usa was so hesitant to put iverson on the olympic team then? When you ask patriotic athletes, they alway tell you its an honor to put the jersey on for the first time. "But its just a game"... of course it is. But you're representing you're country. When you turn it down, you're indirectly turning your country down.

Isnt it funny how you only quote 1% of what i say? :proud:

I hate people who complain about how much money they get. They are forunate to play basketball as a living, yes. They get a lot of money. So what? It's a phyiscally demanding job. As you get older it takes longer for your body to heal after that long season. If the players played year round their careers would be dramatically shorter.

It is just a game. It is obviously an honor to respresent your country in the Olympics. There is no doubt about that. Which is why Kevin went in 2000 and won a gold medal for his country. It is something someone should experience once in their life. He did it. He doesn't want to do it again, is that so bad?

I quoted that little piece of your post because I found it funny. "When your country needs you." Maybe he should join the Marines instead of the US Olympic basketball team.

Being a janitor is a physically demanding job, working on a farm is a physically demanding job, lifting bags at the airport is a physically demading job, do you see them make excuses often?

Pro players got life good. I'm not hating on them, its just funny to me sometimes how I believe that they seem to forget how easy they got life.

I've never been a janitor but I don't think it is as demanding as being a professional basketball player, especially a big man.

But I agree that they have a good life, I'm not doubting that.
