I have heard a few people from the media say is a bad player. I think that he's quite a good all round player. Do you have to score big numbers to be a great player.

I've never heard him called a bad player, I wouldn't say he's great purely because he's got so many injury concerns around him. Definitely an unsual player, and one that most teams would want to have.

Who in their right mind would say he is a bad player?!?!? He is a difference maker, if the game is on the line he is one of those players who will take over on both ends of the floor.

Kirilenko is probably the best all round player in the L. He's probably gonna win DPOY if he stays injury free.
Sat Jan 14, 2006 4:11 pm
Kirilenko can do it all. He's a good player, and barring injuries in the future, a great one.

hes a freakin NBA fantasy god. he does everything, amazing defense.

Where's the option for Godly?
Boy, if he stayed injury free.... sheesh

If he put a little meat on his bones...sheesh.

He isn't really. He plays a different game to KG. KG is an offensive machine and can hold his own on defense. AK47 is a pretty good offensive player and is or is close to the best defensive big man in the game. The man is a beast in all over the court from corner to corner to corner to corner.

HE's KG with more defense and less offense. So, yes, he is good.

As what most people said, it's the injuries that's bothering AK. I think he's scoring decreased because of his last few injuries

He's just a few offensive moves from being the best player in the L.

Kirilenko definitely is a fantastic defensive player. He has the agility and quickness to guard perimeter players and steal the ball, while also being able to block a ton of shots because of his length. He can also score if he put his mind to it, but I think its more beneficial for him to be a secondary scoring option rather than a first. If only he'd stop getting injured....

I don't think he NEEDS to gain 20 pounds. He holds his own @ the SF position.
If he added some more moves and stayed injury free he'd be best player in the L. Something Ben Wallace could have been if could put the ball in the hole.

No, but he needs it to stay healthy. Provided his legs get gradually used to teh extra weight.

He's just giving ppl a chance by sitting out. If he played 82 games it'd be world domination.
Sun Jan 15, 2006 3:43 am
Hes good. Mostly defensive but can put up some numbers on the offensive side also.

With muscle comes injury resistance. While nothing can stop a blown knee, he can really add some strength and resistance to stop the minor injuries from becoming serious.
Sun Jan 15, 2006 5:45 am
but if he added 20lbs of muscle, i think he would lose some of the mobility that makes him such a great on ball defender..
Sun Jan 15, 2006 6:10 am
When people slow down because of too much weight, it's because of cardio endurance issues, not actual lateral speed. Muscle increases speed, some of the fastest pro athletes are football players (assuming the weight put on is 100% muscle, and not fat & water).
The NBA's best one-on-one defender is by far away & the heaviest at his position, Artest is 6' 7" and 260 lbs, heavier than most centers. And nobody being guarded by him will tell you he's too slow to play defense. One of the NBA's quickest & most explosive SFs is LBJ, who's closely behind Artest at 250 lbs. Pat Riley thought he was as fast as Dwayne Wade.
There's a lot of example, but generally if young players like AK put on muscle mass they generally perform better. Marion came into the league 6' 7" 210, he's now 230 and he's unstoppable out there.

Just on that, have a look at some of the World's best 100m sprinters. Most of them could probably be body builders in their spare time, muscle definitely doesn't slow them down.
