Damon Stoudamire Possibly Out for the Season

Sat Dec 31, 2005 3:48 pm

Well in the Blazers game tonight, he basically came off his leg some funny kinda way and he ended up in midair and landed straight on his back. NBATV reported that he has a torn patella tendon and he will be out for the season. This is really going to hurt Memphis, but I wouldn't see Bobby Jackson starting, I would think Burks would start at the PG spot since he has been doing pretty well as of late. What makes it so bad is that Stoudamire was probably the best clutch player on the Grizzlies team making big baskets and being the best FT shooter on the team down the stretch.

tough luck.

Ouch i saw the fall. This is a big thing for Memphis, why wouldnt Bobby start? I dont think Burks is better. Maybe energy off the bench but memphis is hurt big by this.

ouch, stoudamire made so many clutch buckets and was a big reason they were winning games

I just can't really see Bobby running the team. Tonight when he had to finish the game off against Portland, he threw some bad passes and missed some key buckets. I see him more as a SG, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Mike Miller get some minutes at the PG position. A few years ago when both the Grizzlies PG's were out, he did a great job at the position averaging around 6-7 apg. It's really up to Memphis now to see how the rest of the season goes, if the team were to stay healthy, they would be able to do some damage in the playoffs, now we may be looking at another first round exit, but not a sweep.

oh man that's unfortunate
stoudamire was having a great season so far too, hope he has a speedy recovery.

I was watching the game... scary fall he had, I was afraid it might be something much much worse. A season ending injury is bad, but it appeared to be a career ender from the replays.

I think Bobby Jackson will do fine with time, he just needs to get back into the flow of the offense. Maybe the Grizz can pick up a veteran PG until Damon can come back.

Bobby just need to stay out of injury and the team will be fine with him and the other PG i fogot his name.

Sat Dec 31, 2005 5:12 pm

That sucks (N) I saw how he was carted off the court. scary...

I remember Bobby is a really good 6th man for the Kings, isnt he?

Sat Dec 31, 2005 5:20 pm

Didn't he win 6th Man of the year?

Yes he did.
Playing for the Kings I think, it was not too long ago.

Perhaps the Grizz could sign Latrell Sprewell?

Not going to happen, they don't really need help at no other position. From what I've heard last night and so far today, Bobby Jackson will start and maybe Jerry West will go ahead and try to work up some type of deal to get us that one player that we need to make us a top contender in the West and that was with Damon of course. Now, he really needs to make that move so we can try and get back to the position we were at at first by having a top 5-6 spot in the West. I would want Memphis to try and keep the 6th spot rather than the 5th spot because they have a better chance at beating Minnesota than Dallas, and in the next round they would have a better chance at beating Phoenix, Golden State or the Lakers rather than San Antonio.

I have trust in Burks that he play good with the absence of Damon because I've seen him play every since he was in college with the Tigers, I even seem he play one HS game in Memphis before. I just hope Bobby Jackson is ready to step it up and be a TRUE pg, I don't mind him shooting because I know thats his main strength, but if he is going to shoot he needs to make them count. Hopefully Memphis can grab the win tonight against Seattle.

*If* Memphis can stay healthy, I think they're one of the few teams with a chance at beating Detroit... since they give up the fewest ppg.

I'm surprised nobody else has really noticed that though.. everyone still claims the Pistons are the best defensively..

Sun Jan 01, 2006 6:34 am

Mafia, you don't have to worry about facing Minnesota in the first round unless something drastically changes.

Sun Jan 01, 2006 2:34 pm

Well Memphis got the win out of Seattle tonight with everybody contributing. Dahntay hit the big shot at the end to give us the 4-point lead. Warriors will be a tough task though.

Sun Jan 01, 2006 3:06 pm

Ouch , I saw the replays , Damon just fell out of the blue. He looked like he was in alot of pain . Best of wishes to Damon

Sun Jan 01, 2006 3:24 pm

WTF happened? i saw the replay and it looked like his legs just gave up on him all of a sudden?!?! damn thats tough on the grizzlies, im confident that they will still do well with others that will step it up but deffinately a big blow to the great run they have had so far.

Sun Jan 01, 2006 5:46 pm

I WANAN SEE THE REPLAYS OMG

edit: I just saw it...wow looks like his legs just gave out. Didn't look that bad..but sucks...
