China has a population of over 1 billion. I'm sure there's a lot of Yao fans.

you think theres many Wang Zhi Zhi write in votes?
Fri Dec 30, 2005 5:29 pm
Probably, but NBA.com would never show the write ins.

He quoted the right person, KevC's a big Yao fan.
Give me Amare over Yao any day in LA, he's more suitable, the excitement just goes hand in hand with LA.

Thanks for clearing that up. I should've double quoted. Anyways, Chauncey Billups would wreck Gilbert Arenas any day of the week and Yao is the best center in the West even when he has a toe bigger than Sun Ming Ming's brain tumor. (Was that in bad taste?)

I'd take Marcus Camby over Yao personally.

brad miller > yao

Especially as they wouldn't count given that he's not on an NBA roster.

I'd take Pryzabilla over Yao
I think the all-star game is irrelevant towards the best stats getter or whatever. The All-star game to me is purely a time where the league's most favourite players get together and just have a fun time FOR THE FANS. That's why I like the idea of fans voting
(i'm using the stats thing cos Shaun complained bout Arenas nice stats and not getting votes)

damnit, we can still try and vote him in...where's your spirit

chauncey billups >>>>>>>> gilbert arenas
arenas might score more points, but billups is pretty much capable of doing anything -- playing d, scoring, passing. if he doesn't play in this year's all-star game, the NBA should really do some serious thinking.

The only reason why they're letting fans vote for the all-star game because more people would visit the nba.com site and the all-star itself would be more popular if people had got to select who was starting for the game.
Its quite stupid though, its been the same starters and players for the past few years now.
Sat Dec 31, 2005 6:02 am
^^ No it hasn't. Last year was LeBron's first year and Shaq's first back in the East. Wade's going to start for the first time this year.
It's a popularity contest, not about who's having the best season..
And VC deserves to make it this season.
Nets are 3rd in the East and he's playing great.
I'd take Arenas over Kidd, but not Billups. I'd definately take him over Stevie.
For East reserve guards I'd pick VC, Billups, and Arenas. Maybe a 4th guard reserve'd be Rip. East's forwards aren't as strong, so I'd have maybe just 2 of them, 4 guards, and 1 reserve center to round out the 7.

How about Ricky Davis, Paul Pierce and Delonte West. West is averaging .92 blocks a game. Now thats good for a small man

Perhaps, though fan voting has been around before the online ballots at NBA.com.
I think the fan interaction is a good idea. The game is for the fans - it used to be about the best of the best getting an opportunity to play against one another and with each other but a lot of players don't seem as keen on the concept as they used to - so it's great we have a voice, so to speak. But like I said before, maybe fan voting should just ensure the fans' choices participate in the game rather than start.

Exactly. Look at Yao Ming. The past few years, he was voted to start in the All-Star game. Popularity is all that matters in this ballots.
I think its the lack of centers thats why Ming gets all those votes. Hes so over rated.

No AK47 come on fan voteing sucks!

*gasp* Oh noes! I am so wrong!1!1!!11
But when I meant "the same players", I meant to use the term loosely, so I was referring more to players like Carter, McGrady, Garnett, Yao and Duncan would constatnly be starters.
Not that I don't really mind, its just that it gets repitive watching the same people for consecutive years.

Gasol actually has a chance to make it, he just needs to get in front of Nowitzki
Sat Dec 31, 2005 1:08 pm
