rasheed cousin died

Sat Dec 24, 2005 4:11 am

PHILADELPHIA -- A cousin of Detroit Pistons forward Rasheed Wallace was killed and a police officer was wounded in a shootout authorities said occurred after an undercover drug buy.

Tyree Wallace, 22, was pronounced dead at Albert Einstein Medical Center. Sgt. Mike Mitchell, 41, was in stable condition Friday with a groin wound.

Pistons spokesman Matt Dobek confirmed that Tyree Wallace was Rasheed Wallace's first cousin. Dobek said it was unclear whether Wallace would play in Friday night's home game against the Golden State Warriors, but said he did not participate in the team's shootaround Friday morning.

On Thursday night, Mitchell was in an unmarked police car when an undercover officer bought drugs from Tyree Wallace before identifying himself, Police Commissioner Sylvester Johnson said.

Mitchell then saw Wallace pull a gun. The officer jumped out of his vehicle and ran toward Wallace, Johnson said.

"[Wallace] was fired on in response to him drawing a gun on police," Capt. Benjamin Naish said at a news conference Friday. It wasn't immediately known who fired the fatal shots. Several other officers were at the scene.

Tyree Wallace was enrolled as a student at suburban Arcadia University, where he had been on the basketball team but was not on the roster this year, university spokeswoman Lori Bauer said Friday.

Mayor John Street said he visited Mitchell in the hospital and the officer was smiling and talking.

"It looks like he will be able to return to active duty," Street said.

Is there any difference between this one and every other drug dealer on this world? You RIP him, but this guy sold DRUGS. He was a fucking TOOL. Why the hell should we feel sorry for him? Because someone from the NBA is his relative? Where will this end?

just because relatives of famous people are dying doesn't mean anything has changed. People always die, except no one gives a shit if you don't know WHO they are.

So just because he sold drugs for a living I should just say fuck him and say he should burn in hell? Drugs were a mistake but why would you hold it against him? Im sure an NBA player has "given" weed to another player. What if hypothetically T-mac did that, if he's a hall of famer would you be like that when he dies? Nope I highly anyone would.

how the fuck did t-mac get into this picture? he was saying that people simply feel sorry for him (tyree) solely because he's related to rasheed wallace, which is dumb. the dude was a complete idiot pulling out a gun infront of a cop. i'm glad the dipshit got popped, last thing we need is for more cops to die from idiot thugs.

btw, just to answer your question, if t-mac was a drug dealer, and he pulled a gun out infront of a cop only to get shot first, i wouldn't feel sorry for him at all. just because he's a celebrity doesn't mean we should hold him to a higher regard (no matter what he does.)

Oh I had no idea he pulled a gun, nvm mind then...

Its still a shame he died. I dont fault the police officer one bit for opening fire on him, but at the same time did he deserve to die? That is upto everyones opinions. What I do find interesting is when tookie was about to be executed, there was alot of support for him not to die. Now when this happened, theres a feeling of "well he deserved it". If one ever deserved to die for his actions, its tookie.
