32 points in the first half..

30 in the third quarter alone
jesus christ, he's not human

i'm convinced he could've hit 80 tonight if he was playing in the 4th.

Dallas: Legit? One of the worst defensive teams in basketball for years now.

Kobe- 25 Free throws and 30 shots in 3 quarters who the hell is guarding him?

30 shots, 3 Quarters = Gunning in my book.

If he's going to make them I don't care if he takes 20 shots per quarter.

So what if it's Dallas? To be a guard and get above 50 is actually quite a feat. Tmac took 37 shots to get to 62 when he was in Orlando against Washington... is that gunning or does Washington at that time discredit him in any way?

What about the nights he isn't making them? Do you still want him taking the 26 shots a night he averages?
His problem is he don't know when to stop shooting.
I would rather get my team involved, that's how Championships are won.
Spurs, Piston's to name a couple.

T-Mac is a gunner too.

Dallas are actually getting much better in defense anyways. It isn't as if they are the same team as a couple of seasons ago. With Avery Johnson at the helm they have become a much better defensive side. I haven't seen any of the game or anything but I would guess they probably put Josh Howard or Marquis Daniels on Kobe (correct me if I am wrong) and those two are no slouches on defense.

Well someone was playing slouch defense, because Kobe shot 25 free throws in 3 quarters.

Dallas isn't that bad a team either. They actually have a winning record. So in the last 10 games, they only lost twice.. and both losses came against Kobe. This performance isn't a fluke and is legit. It's not like Yao vs. Atlanta. Cause Kobe's actually done it before wheras in the game where Yao exploded... he hasn' done it much after that game.

Slouch defence doesn't neccsearily lead to fouls. Maybe Kobe was just the better player tonight. (Y)

Josh Howard's a good defender, I'm assuming that's who was on him.

The Lakers were already winning and I guess the Lakers thought it was better to let their reserves play in the 'garbage' time.

Yes... MJ's 69 point game vs the Cavs was better... Don't forget MJ also had 18 boards and 6 dimes if I recall correctly.

Good game by Kobe. Just wondering... did he play much in the 2nd quarter?

Jordan scored 63 in the 1986 Playoffs (game 2, round 1) against Boston which still stands as the record high for the postseason.

Answering soemone's question:

LATimes wrote:Mavericks coach Avery Johnson said before the game he would use "the whole team" to guard Bryant, and several different Dallas players gave it a go with very little success.
