Your roster patch

Thu Dec 08, 2005 4:34 pm

if i already started by using your version 1 nscl roster patch (dynasty mode), can i continue the dynasty with ur new version of roster patch? or do i have to start all over again?

It won't affect any Dynasty games in progress. If you wanted to use the new rosters, you'd have to start a new Dynasty.

Why can't you just copy the player.dbf file to the dynasty?

Sun Dec 18, 2005 12:43 pm

Because the player.dbf also contains which team the player is on, so if you trade a player in the dynasty, putting the players.dbf in the dynasty folder will reset the rosters and most likely cause the dynasty to crash.

It also contains season data, which you'll lose if you replace players.dbf with the one from the roster update. You can however replace coaches.dbf and teamgear.dbf with the files from the roster update.

Sorry to thread hijack, but the question here has been answered, but I have another.

Andrew, with Roser 1.0, I have no ID for Smush Parker in appearance.dbf, and hence, I cannot set his FACEID to -1 allowing me to see his cyberface I've installed. As I've said, I re-did everybody's ratings across the board on my current rosters, and have kept them up to date, etc. Is there any way that, once you release 1.2 that I can somehow add Smush's ID to appearance.dbf, or do anything else without losing my player ratings?

Thank you.

Actually I have copied some of the ratings and some of the new roster (team and roster position) in the middle of my season by editing the players.dbf. Not replacing the .dbf but copying the values from the newer version. Haven't had any problems yet. Works like a charm.

It's already been fixed ready for 1.01, in the meantime you can change Smush's ID in appearance.dbf to match the one in players.dbf.

Oh yeah, you can do that. Applying all the updates, especially after a large ratings update or adding missing players would be somewhat of a chore.

What was his ID in appearance.dbf from 1.00? That way I can locate it and change it to match the one in players.dbf

Thanks Andrew.

EDIT: Or would it be possible to download 1.01 and simply replace my appearance.dbf with your 1.01 version, and it will be fine??

Mon Dec 19, 2005 8:25 am

No, you won't be able to do that since I've added some players since v1.00. I believe it's 1072, I can't remember offhand.

Mon Dec 19, 2005 8:49 am

Smush's PLAYERID in players.dbf is 1073. Now, no such ID exists in appearance.dbf under v1.00. Can I simply add 1073 to appearance.dbf, or is it more complicated than that?

Or would it be easier to just create a new player, give him Smush's attributes, and work with that maybe?

I only keep asking because I don't want to lose my massive rating edits via v1.01. As I've said, I re-worked the entire rating system and it's taken hours and hours, so any way for me not to lose that would be great. :D

Find Smush's ID in appearance.dbf (I believe it's around 2030) and change it to 1073.

Tue Dec 20, 2005 6:53 am

Is there a way for me to be certain which one around 2030 is Smush's??

EDIT: It's 2031. Thanks a lot for your help, Andrew. I really appreciate all that you do around here.

No problem. I've fixed it up ready for v1.01 as well.
