I think the leader for most assists in a game is Scott Skiles with 31. Btw, Chauncey had 19 last night.
But nonetheless, the stats are overwhelming. If he didn't play for the Wiz though, some stats would be higher.

Forgot about AK. My bad

Has anyone seen KG's numbers lately? Not only he isn't averaging his usual 20/10+/5/2/2, he isn't even giving a 20/10. Could this be his decline? (Riot is soooo going to flame my ass.)

i think that has to do with the fact that Eddie Griffin is playing more and stealing some of his shine.
anyways, Jordan averaged 37.1ppg, the only guy in the NBA today that could realistically do that without hurting his team would have to be AI.

Who gives a fuck? If Riot can't accept that KG isnt the same player he was 2,3 years ago then he has cemented his homer status.

Do you even watch how lebron and kobe play? They take control of the offense when their teamates are playing shit or when they are on fire (like when kobe was dropping those 9 straight 40 + games). If Kobe or lebron averaged 37.1 ppg it would be to help their team. Those guys are about winning at any means necessary, same as AI, and if that means scoring alot then thats what they'll try to do.

MJ is a great player. Hes incredible. As far as the best, I think Id say Russell 11 rings in 13 yrs. But I mean MJ is incredible.

i believe the cavs are 5-7 when lebron james scores at least 30pts. 0-2 when he is scores at least 50pts
now you could reply he's picking up for his teammates, the same could be said about AI- but both players can stall the offense by dominating the ball. and when they do give it up, it's when the shot clock is winding down, leaving their teammates in a bad situation- "now wtf am i supposed to do now, i forgot how it's like to touch the ball?"

Exactly what i was thinking as well.
It looks AK and Duncan would be the best bets for that kind of performance ever happening, both have notched 8 blocks or 8 steals (separately) as career highs, so they're within striking distance, and both have recorded 10+ assists.
One stat i wish we could see more is 5 x 5, 5 points 5 rebounds 5 assists 5 blocks 5 steals. I think Sean May had 1 this year, but i can't be sure because nobody really records these.

duncan was 2 blocks shy for a quadruple double during the deciding game against the nets in the nba finals a couple years back. it was an impressive line too. 21 points, 20 boards, 10 assists, 8 blocks

like Air already mentioned, when LeBron & Kobe score a tonne of points not much good seems to come of it, but AI is in a system that needs him to dominate the ball to get W's.

coz he's tired of playing for the same team who never makes it deep enough into the playoff... maybe he's pulling that Vince Carter did in Toronto
Fri Dec 16, 2005 8:16 pm
He had like 20/20 tonight.
Fri Dec 16, 2005 9:40 pm
omg hes doing so shit hes not even getting 20/10/5
hes only getting 21.9 / 9.9 / 4.8
thats sooo bad
youve got to be joking...

Last year it was 22.2/13.5/5.7 and his blocks are at half of what they were two years ago, in his MVP season. If you can't see the difference between the numbers and in the way he is playing, you have to get your eyes checked.

the guy said he isnt averaging 20/10/5...
i realise he isnt doing as well as last season...
Fri Dec 16, 2005 10:18 pm
...or a season before. I wanted to say that he isn't giving a full 20/10 (although his rpg went up to 10.4 after yestedays game.).

Garnett's team is atop their division(grant it they only really have denver as competition rite now) but last year they didnt make the playoffs and im sure he'll trade a "decline" in stats for W's
Consecutive regular season games with Triple Doubles
Jordan--------7
That was one that really suprised me not to say that he couldnt do it just didnt think he did that consectively in that many games

He played for stats back then and with the amount of balhogging he did , it is pretty obvious that he could do it.

That was probably the game where he scored 63.
Close...it was the game he scored 64 against the Magic in 1993.

Hold on there, isn't that a bit of a double standard? After all, Oscar Robertson is lauded for averaging a triple double but when MJ racks them up he's ballhogging and playing for stats? It's worth noting the Big O's Royals were around .500 during his career and missed the playoffs four times.
Sat Dec 17, 2005 2:58 pm
No offense to the creator of this topic, but stats don't do it. By statistics, Michael Jordan isn't the greatest scorer of all time -- Wilt Chamberlain is. He's not the greatest winner -- Bill Russell is. Jordan's greatness isn't defined by averages, totals, or individual games.
There's no way to pin-point Michael Jordan's superiority. It lies in the 82 games per season where he gave 100% for ever play on both sides of the floor. And how he was always able to kick it up to 150% during the playoffs. It was about that final quarter during a winnable game where the man refused to let his team down. It was about that final play where you knew he'd have the ball in his hands...and that there was nothing you could do to stop him.
At the end of every season, when you thought that Michael Jordan was a 10, he would always come back an 11.
During the 90s, when you thought that this was the year that the Bulls would show their age and become beatable, Michael Jordan proved you wrong.
And when you would say to yourself, Oh he's good, but can he _____? He did it.
Michael Jordan could do anything he wanted to on the basketball court, and the fact that he could do it as an SG during the greatest era for the center position -- it made it all more special.

Hold on your horses. I never said that other players who seem to get on a long triple-double streaks aren't ballhogs. I haven't seen Oscar played, but I can imagine he had ball in his hands quite a lot and - most probably - too much. But I have seen games of Jordan from the late '80 and he
was a ballhog through who the offense began and ended. And that was the biggest attribute Pippen brought to the table - he became the initiator of the Bulls' triangle offense and with that he allowed Jordan to finish the plays and not start them, so the D was less focused on him.

I kinda agree, i think it's because KG's team is doing better and he has more trust in his teammates.
Notice LeBron's stats have also dropped significantly, and we know he's not getting old and declining.
Sun Dec 18, 2005 6:48 pm
LeBron's assists are down because he handles the ball less and his rebounds are down because he has one of the best rebounding frontcourts in the country. I wouldn't say that about Minnesotta's Griffin (6.5), Olowokandi (5.5) and Madsen (2.6).
