Highschool Draft Team vs. College Draft Team?

Fri Dec 09, 2005 3:29 pm

If you look at it I think a starting line up of all highschool draft players might be better than an all college line-up. You guys decide?

High School
C Amare
PF J'O Neal
SF Garnett
SG Bryant
PG LBJ
Sixth T-MAc

College
C Shaq
PF Duncan
SF Shawn MArion (lots of others)
SG Iverson
PG Nash
Sixth too hard to choose for me

The big guys make or break this comparison. The biggest weakness is no one to guard shaq, however between Amare Garnett and O'neal they might be able to stop the big guys on the college line-up. What do u guys say?

sucks Kwame Brown didn't make the HS squad

Fri Dec 09, 2005 4:19 pm

i really doubt james would be at pg, and garnett would be at sf...

Fri Dec 09, 2005 4:41 pm

well since bassy isnt good enough yet to be on a type of all star team..and since lebron is the only other person that can play a good pg..

Fri Dec 09, 2005 4:45 pm

yeah i'll agree that HS draft players are superior when it comes to the elite.

I think the college team would have more depth.

yep A LOT more depth. Those 6th are pretty much the only high schooler that can be named. While there are tons of other college players.

I do hope Chandler will be on the list some day and maybe Curry and Brown.
While Telfair is good enough to be on that list seeing there isn't a real PG.

Fri Dec 09, 2005 7:48 pm

C: Amare
PF: Garnett
SF: T-Mac
SG: Bryant
PG: Telfair

Bench
Jermaine
James

Yes obviously College would have a lot of depth....
You didnt even name players like Wade, Brand etc. But for top 6 men. I would go with HS anyday.
Also, I would put this lineup too. You would kill them at every position except PF.
C Amare
PF J'O Neal
SF Garnett
SG Bryant
PG LBJ
Sixth T-MAc

Rashard Lewis from HS yeah?

Moses Malone, anyone?

I'm gonna assume he doesn't count, because if he does, then former college players count too, and then you can basically choose from the best of all time.

Sat Dec 10, 2005 3:03 am

Lol @ Moses Malone. Yeah lets wheel him out there. Although he'd probably still be a capable C these days.

Sat Dec 10, 2005 3:20 am

Wait, wait . I thought we're already talking about all-time selection.

Sat Dec 10, 2005 6:49 am

With the way he's playing, I think Darius Miles should be on that list. DeShawn Stevenson isn't half bad either.

Sat Dec 10, 2005 7:07 am

the high schoolers put up good numbers, but i think shaq, duncan, artest, iverson, nash/kidd would beat any starting lineup of highschoolers put up against them in a real game anyday. curious, thats 4 mvps and 2 final mvps versus 1 reg seas mvp.

Sat Dec 10, 2005 7:14 am

Starting 5s, the High School guys probably take it, but in a real game, with a full 12 player roster, adding guys like JR Smith, Dwight Howard, & Co. to the High School team, and adding Nash/Kidd (whoever's not starting), Wade, Camby, Ray Allen, and whomever else you want to the college team, I think the boys who got their education get the job done.

Sat Dec 10, 2005 7:18 am

shaq, duncan, artest, iverson, nash/kidd

thats 4 mvps and 2 final mvps

Shaq - 1 MVP
Duncan - 2 MVP
Iverson - 1 MVP
Nash - 1 MVP

That's 5 MVP's

Sat Dec 10, 2005 10:05 am

Well of course if they've won that many media voted non-biased awards they'll definitely win

Sat Dec 10, 2005 10:32 am

Hey this could be a pretty cool game to watch. It would have to be on PPV though

Matter of fact, the High School team could scrimmage the Juco team featuring the best Junior College players. Here's their starting lineup:

C- Robert Whaley
PF- Travis Outlaw
SF- Kedrick Brown
SG- Qyntel Woods
PG- Donta Smith

That would be a great warmup game

Sat Dec 10, 2005 11:00 am

I think Ben Wallace would start over Robert Whaley.

I don't believe Ben went to some D2 college.

Sat Dec 10, 2005 6:52 pm

Ben Wallace (born September 10, 1974 in White Hall, Alabama) is a basketball player in the NBA. He went to college at Virginia Union, a Division II school.

Oakley began to take a deep interest in Wallace's career. He helped Wallace find a spot at Cuyahoga Community College in Ohio. After two years of juco basketball, Oakley recommended him to his alma mater, Virginia Union, a Division II school in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association.

Erm, I want to erase that "don't". I wanted to say that I thought he ONLY went to D2 college. I didn't know about the JuCo part. How old was he then, when he entered the league? 24?
