LeBron James and Elton Brand

NEW YORK, Dec. 1, 2005 – The Cleveland Cavaliers’ LeBron James and the Los Angeles Clippers’ Elton Brand today were named Eastern Conference and Western Conference Players of the Month, respectively, for games played in November.

James led the Cavaliers to a 10-4 month, marking the first time the team posted 10 or more wins in November since 1977-78 and only the third time in the franchise’s history. James, averaging 28.4 points on 48.9 percent shooting, 6.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.64 steals, scored 25 or more points in 10 of 14 games. In a 123-120 win over the Sixers on Nov. 19, James recorded his first triple-double of the season, with 36 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists.

Averaging 23.7 points on 56.0 percent shooting, 10.7 rebounds and 2.7 blocks, Brand led the Clippers to a 10-5 record and first place in the Pacific Division. He is the only player in the league to rank in the top 10 in points and rebounds and ranks fourth in field goal percentage. With 10 double-doubles (points-rebounds) this month, Brand became the franchise’s all-time leader in double-doubles with 182.

NEW YORK, Dec. 1, 2005 – Channing Frye of the New York Knicks and Chris Paul of the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets today were named the Eastern and Western Conference T-Mobile Rookies of the Month, respectively, for games played in November.

Frye, the eighth overall pick in the 2005 NBA Draft, ranks second in scoring (14.2 ppg), field goal percentage (.511 percent) and blocks (.85 bpg) and third in rebounding (6.1 rpg) among rookies. Frye recorded 20-plus points in three consecutive games from Nov. 16-20, becoming the first Knick rookie to do so since Gerald Wilkins during the 1985-86 season and the first New York player to do so off the bench since Latrell Sprewell during the 1998-99 season.

Paul, the fourth overall pick in the 2005 NBA Draft, leads all rookies in scoring, assists, steals and minutes, averaging 16.4 points, 6.8 assists, 2.0 steals and 36.7 minutes during November. Paul, the Hornets’ leader in scoring, assists, steals and minutes, ranks fifth in the NBA in steals and twelfth in assists overall.

Well done to all of these players.

congrants the the Players of the month

IMO, Kobe would have been player of the month if he shot less and if the Lakers won more. or at least one of the candidates

Elton Brand was a great choice and after second thought Bron deserves it too. I was thinking AI until I saw his team's 8-10 record even if they are first in their division!

AI would have been if his team won more. Darko would have been player of the month if he scores 40 ppg

Congrats to all of them, they deserve it (Y)

don't u guys think there's a little too much hype for bron? i know he's very very good... oh yeah and he did deserved this one.. but i noticed since all star game last year, nba loves hypin' up bron bron

'Since All Star Game'? Were you braindead for the past couple of years? NBA has hype him since the minute he played the first game - and even before that.

Good to see EB up there. Hope the Clips reach the playoffs *knocks on wood*

Mon Dec 05, 2005 1:27 am

Congrats on Channing . I knew he was going to win it. I wasn't surprised about Brand winning West , but I thought Arenas would've won east .

if the cavs keep it up LeBron has a good chance at winning the MVP. (an award kobe hasn't earned yet lol)

I think since he hit those 10 3 pointers when he was 12 is when they started hyping him.

better than last year's MVP defense..

Mon Dec 05, 2005 12:28 pm

lol, that is true...

Anyways, Brand definately deserved this one, he's been the best player on the second best team in the West so far.

Mon Dec 05, 2005 12:39 pm

Bron aint that bad at defense, its just no one else is, Hughes is alrite, Gooden sucks against other PFs, Marshall sucks, Jones sucks, Ilgauskas is average. Bron is getting bout 2 stls and 1 block, thats not shit.
But chea, Brand definitely deserved it, and if the clips keep it up he will win MVP.

Mon Dec 05, 2005 1:37 pm

I love the posts saying that if Brand and the Clips/James and the Cavs keep it up then they'll be MVPs. Of course you say that now, that's why they are players of the month, your opinion is only based on the games of that month, and they were the MVP's of the month.

Besides not making it to the playoffs he's pretty much surpassed the hype statistically specially last season where oh well he did the ever so easy task of averaging 27 points, 7 boards, 7 assists and 2 steals per night. Yes lots of 20 year olds do that.

He's hyped for a reason, cause he is extremely good and its just a matter of time before he tightens up on defense. He isnt even 21 yet, defense comes mostly through experience very few have it as there forte at his age. The NBA has to hype up somebody, it might aswell be him cause there wont be someone this big to hype up for a long long time.

Not to mention, he's getting very little recognition. I hardly hear about the guy, and I'm not sure if it's because it's a Clipper thing.

considering lebron's hype and the lack of any real stand out mvp far ( expect maybe AI) i think he has a legit shot.
but u right, if lakers go a month undefeated no doubt the Kobe4MVP talks will arise lol

Wed Dec 07, 2005 7:29 am

Brand is on his way to player of the month again!

37 points and 12 rebs last night against the Heat.

Wed Dec 07, 2005 7:36 am

If Brand keeps this up , he should get serious MVP consideration this year . Oh , and if the Clippers keep this up to.
