Toronto water supply contaminated with cocaine

Thu Nov 24, 2005 2:36 pm

At least that's what I guess caused this:

Toronto Sun - Raptors rookie Charlie Villanueva believes there is something special developing between Chris Bosh and himself on the court.

"We're like Tim Duncan and David Robinson," Villanueva said, following the team's morning shootaround at the America West Arena. "But a younger version. I really feel that."

That pretty much sums it up.

Hm, interesting

as much as i love Villa, this is the most idiotic thing ever stated

Thu Nov 24, 2005 3:28 pm

They both are not even close to the Spurs twins towers, absolutely no chance. (N)

Thu Nov 24, 2005 4:03 pm

Damn, i really thought I could drink some crack water in Toronto...

Thu Nov 24, 2005 4:30 pm

lol wtf?

Thu Nov 24, 2005 5:12 pm

What........the.....hell...is he thinking??
No resemblence to the Twin Towers AT ALL. Period.

Thu Nov 24, 2005 7:04 pm

Give the man some slack... It's not like they are Jordan and Pippen or Stockton and Malone... Those are two big guys playing ball and the only such combo to come straight out is Duncan and Robinson...

He's a rookie... These things happen... And if you read through the article, it states that he said more out of excitement than comparison between him and Bosh to Duncan and Robinson.

But you guys will trash anyone and everyone who has ever played ball so why should I bother with you...

Thu Nov 24, 2005 7:13 pm

hm, I agree with Metsis on this one (screw my other statement)

I didn't read the article carefully

well at least he has confidence in himself, confidence is always good

Thu Nov 24, 2005 8:01 pm

It's like when Amare said that he is going to be the greatest power forward the league has ever seen... It's not like he said he already is or that there is nothing to that, he just said that that is his goal and he's going for it 110%...

Going for it may lead him to be one of the greatest power forwards the league has ever seen... It's always hard to say who's better... Like comparing Wilt and Shaq... Totally impossible to say anything concrete about it...

If Bosh and Villa start to work on their game with each other at 110% they will be something special... Will they be as good or as successful as Duncan and Robinson, well that remains to be seen, but if they work toward that goal they will get better and form some sort of a duo...

Thu Nov 24, 2005 8:11 pm

a duo like Duncan and Robinson? :P

Thu Nov 24, 2005 11:15 pm

I love his optimism, but that's just a stupid comparison.

Fri Nov 25, 2005 3:09 am

Which one is Tim Duncan and which one is David Robinson?

Fri Nov 25, 2005 4:37 am

well at least it wasn't the water that marbury drank when he declared himself the best PG.

You're right, go away.

Fri Nov 25, 2005 1:43 pm

duncan and robinson wasnt really a duo. They were only a duo for like 3 years then robinson turned in to the 3rd scoring option. a better duo was ralph sampson and hakeem olajuwon

Jugs wrote:a duo like Duncan and Robinson? :P

A duo that most resembles Duncan and Robinson... Not the next Duncan & Robinson combo... That would be just dumb...

But it's all in the air... Wonder if they are happy enough to stick around to see this thing materialize... They will both be in for a big pay-day once their rookie contracts are up and I don't know if the Raptors have the money to keep them both...

But it's good to see that there are some glimmers of hope for a better tomorrow in Toronto too...

Fri Nov 25, 2005 9:39 pm

I hope that Toronto will have the money to keep them both. Rose and Alvin and Peterson's contracts end before then and it's most likely that they won't be resigned so that'll hopefully give them some cap space to sign extentions to Villa, Bosh and Graham but you never know with Bobcack

Fri Nov 25, 2005 10:35 pm

They better call themselves the tiny towers cause none of them are above 7-0 :P (though they're still pretty tall and they are stacked with talent)

Fri Nov 25, 2005 11:43 pm

Wow, people must really hate the Raptors, what's the point of flipping out over the comment of a rookie?

Sat Nov 26, 2005 2:13 am

Who's flipping out? It's a funny comment. No one cares enough about the Raptors to hate them.

PHOENIX -- Raptors rookie Charlie Villanueva believes there is something special developing between Chris Bosh and himself on the court.

"We're like Tim Duncan and David Robinson," Villanueva said, following the team's morning shootaround at the America West Arena. "But a younger version. I really feel that."

Villanueva will, no doubt, be criticized and derided for making such a bold comparison between himself and Bosh and the celebrated San Antonio Spurs duo, who won two NBA titles together. However, the New York native made the statement more out of optimism and excitement than as a prediction.

Although the Raptors have a 1-9 record, heading into last night's game against the struggling Phoenix Suns, Villanueva is having a solid rookie campaign and has been playing even better of late alongside Bosh.

And Bosh has been nothing short of magnificent for the Raptors, although that point generally has been lost this season with all of the gloom and doom surrounding the club.

"It's just a blessing playing on the same team as him," said Villanueva, who is tied for third among NBA rookies in scoring (13.2), second in rebounding (6.5) and second in blocks (0.90).

Prior to the beginning of the 2005-06 campaign, head coach Sam Mitchell announced that Bosh would have to be ready this season for other teams planning their defence around him. Mitchell expected that his third-year power forward would be double- and triple-teamed at times this season, particularly with the departure of Vince Carter.

Mitchell added that Bosh's personal numbers would probably go down because of extra attention being paid to him, but he could still be a huge contributor by learning how to distribute the ball to his teammates.

Well, Mitchell was correct about the extra attention. There have been games in which Bosh has been smothered. On the other hand, not only has Bosh learned to deal with the double-teams, his numbers have improved from last season.

Bosh, 21, is averaging 20.2 points per game and 11.4 rebounds, fifth-best in the NBA, and ahead of such defensive luminaries as Ben Wallace of the Detroit Pistons and Jermaine O'Neal of the Indiana Pacers. His eight double-doubles in 10 games is second best in the league, just one behind Duncan.

Bosh said that he is fine kicking the ball out to Villanueva, Jalen Rose, Morris Peterson or any other shooter on the team. But he credits a new commitment on the offensive glass with his strong rebound and scoring numbers.

"When somebody (on my team) shoots it, my first step used to be backward," said Bosh, who is averaging 4.3 offensive boards per game, third in the NBA. "Now I just want to be in the lane when the ball goes up and try to make an athletic play to get the ball. If I get more trash buckets, my scoring will go up."

he was talking more about how close they are and stuff then skill wise

You'd be surprised.

This comment is more about proving people wrong that caused him to make that comment. People said that he couldn't play together with Bosh because they technically play the same position but in terms of the way their games are structured they are completely different players and can play together.

I also wondered . How would a team be if they had 2 Shaq's?? Will it make the team extremely good , or will it kill the team ???
