Brown Could Be Out Two Weeks
By Pete Thomas, Times Staff Writer
Power forward Kwame Brown, who suffered a strained right hamstring Friday night during the 97-91 loss to the Clippers, will be sidelined for up to two weeks.
Coach Phil Jackson said the break may actually benefit Brown, who has been ineffective and lacking in confidence.
"He needs to take the pressure off him so he can come back and play the game the way we anticipate he can play," Jackson said.
For tonight's game against the Chicago Bulls, Brown's replacement probably will be Brian Cook or, if the Lakers decide to go small, Devean George.
George and Chris Mihm, both nursing sore ankles, were held out of Saturday's practice.

George Sidelined at Least One Week
By Mike Bresnahan, Times Staff Writer
The Laker bench, short and struggling as it is, will get even shorter.
Devean George, averaging 6.5 points as the Lakers' sixth man, is out for at least a week because of a sore left foot.
George took a red-eye flight after Sunday's game against Chicago to have his foot examined by the Indianapolis doctor who performed his ankle surgery last year. An MRI exam and CT scan were negative.
George joins a growing list of injured Lakers: starter Kwame Brown and reserves Slava Medvedenko and Luke Walton.
"We're hurting," said Walton, who hoped to return Thursday against the Seattle SuperSonics. "But, I guess, better to get hurt now than later."
Kobe Bryant is also dinged up with an assortment of minor injuries. He played 46 minutes Sunday, despite a bruised thigh, slightly sprained ankle and sore hip. He had 43 points and made 17 of 34 shots.

There are several different comments I can make about this.
1. As in the 0.000000001% chance they had?
2. Kwame and Devean George were all they needed for a championship?
3. Kwame is that good?
4. Pacific Division champions? No, that's the Clippers.
5. Do you mean LA championship? No, that's the Clippers.
6. Huh?
7. You remind me of one friend who used to always say Raptors would win the championship. I always laughed at him.
8. In 5 years maybe?
9. Kwame Brown is in the championship picture?
10. What???
