Sprewell likes Hawks: Latrell Sprewell's agent said his client would love to fill the Hawks' need for more veteran leadership. And since Sprewell is currently out of the league, having turned down a three year, $20 million extension in Minnesota last summer, he's available. "Latrell is very much interested and has indicated a number of times his desire to play for the Hawks," said Sprewell's Atlanta-based agent Bob Gist. "He likes the fact the [Hawks'] owners, GM and certainly the coach are committed to amassing a winning team. He thinks he could make a major contribution to the team and he loves the city." Hawks general manager Billy Knight said he has had conversations with Gist, the last ending with this succinct explanation as to why the Hawks have no interest in his client. "We're loaded with players at the wing positions," Knight said Tuesday. "And we really have no interest in Latrell Sprewell joining our team."

Rofl, desperate motherfucker.

That's just getting sad...
Thu Nov 10, 2005 9:27 am
lol, yea very sad
he's so desperate, he's even willing to go to a team like the Hawks.... and they are rejecting him.
Thu Nov 10, 2005 9:37 am
He doesnt like the Hawks, he likes teams that can give him as much money as possible.

I was thinking the same exact thing as I read the article.
If the Bobcats were fucked in the head, they'd probably offer him a contract and he'd actually accept it with the same words.
Thank God the Cats aren't that stupid. Atlanta on the other hand, swingmen galore.
Thu Nov 10, 2005 10:36 am
He will ruin the team's chemistry! Not like they have a lot of chemistry anyways butthey are a young team that is developing. The last thing you need is a virus bitching about money.
Thu Nov 10, 2005 11:48 am
Well... I'm not too concerned in seeing him join the Hawks. It will make interesting viewing!
Thu Nov 10, 2005 12:31 pm
Him joining the Hawks is a bad thing if he does . Imagine what all those young players will pick up from him??
Thu Nov 10, 2005 12:40 pm
he should join the raptors. He can't make them any worst than they are

Yeah, and it's basically impossible if he wants to choke Sam Mitchell, because Sam Mitchell would probably lay the smack down on him as well.
Thu Nov 10, 2005 12:52 pm
would Spree honestly make a good fit in any team??? Nuggets probably . Only team I can think of.
Thu Nov 10, 2005 1:25 pm
Not even the Nuggets. Nuggets already have a pretty good team. They don't want anyone to ruin that.
Thu Nov 10, 2005 3:13 pm
Im against all out Spree bashing but this is really pathetic to have to ask the Hawks if they want him. He should join The Worm in europe, its the best hunting ground for NBA players gone wrong.
Thu Nov 10, 2005 4:14 pm
he should just play baseball...
Thu Nov 10, 2005 4:15 pm
Or he can meet up with J.R. Rider wherever hes gone...
Thu Nov 10, 2005 5:12 pm
i thought he liked miami...
Thu Nov 10, 2005 9:53 pm
I think he should go to the Knicks, so the mess would be completed.
Fri Nov 11, 2005 10:47 pm
I would love him back in NY.

It's all funny and stuff dissing Spree for what he's done in the past, but truth is, he still has a lot to give and there are a couple of teams out there that could use that..
Sat Nov 12, 2005 3:55 am
No one denied that. I don't see anyone denying the fact he's got gas left in the tanks. The reason for dissing is his horrible attitude. Not his game.

I think a lot of people are thinking he doesn't have gas left in the tank. He certainly isn't capable of being a starter. Last year he just looked old and washed up. He played hard but he just didn't have his legs last year.

Yeah I agree, I really hoped that Sprewell would join the Lakers this off-season. But I think they could only give him a 1 year deal while he was looking for a 2 year deal, including a starting job. Obviously that wouldnt be possible for the Lakers, but I would love to have him off the bench. Aaron McKie has been crap so far
Sat Nov 12, 2005 8:21 am
Why not the B cats, they need some good players

That's their problem. He's got enough gas to be a good backup. Look at Payton, he isn't starter material anymore, but that doesn't mean he can't play the game anymore.
But as has been said, Spree's looking to start.

"We're loaded with players at the wing positions," Knight said Tuesday. "And we really have no interest in Latrell Sprewell joining our team."
Come on, when has that stopped them? I guess it speaks volumes about Spree's reputation - or perhaps his attitude towards the negotiations - when a team that'll load up on as many swingmen it can get hold of isn't interested in his services. Like I said in the other thread, part of the problem is that Spree has zero leverage yet he's still making demands.
