Haha, you're kidding about that being a surprise right?
I meant him being winless was a suprise. Not the rookies not getting minutes. I know what happened in Detroit with Darko.

I'm a little surprised. It's no secret he was inheriting some problems when he took the Knicks job but he has been a successful coach - even before he won the championship with the Pistons his teams had enjoyed at least modest success and he had won it all in the NCAA, and most people don't keep succeeding by accident - I thought the Knicks might have picked up at least one victory in their first three games.

Does he have a special tactic, like for instance, Ted Winter?'s triangle offense?

i think right now Larry Brown is asking Thomas to trade a few of the players, and Thmoas is always shopping for players. I expect to see some transactions soon. Rose, Taylor, Penny, Davis, maybe even Crawford.

Brown can make good teams better, but in the past his teams weren't full of lazy players. That's the problem with the Knicks. They could be a pretty good team.

i don't see why brown should be playing robinson in the 1st place. so what if he's a rookie? how much of an impact will this guy have? he doesn't even have this "pedigree" that darko has. nyk's problem has been it's froncourt players, not it's guards
the team has invested more time and money on crawford anyway
Thu Nov 10, 2005 10:12 am
yer they are spending to much money on there guards!!!

Its not the roster, its the syle of play...Brown is a new coach for the Knicks and he likes to coach DEFENCE while the rest of the guys (the players) play offence BEFORE defence. The players see offence as a more important thing and they dont give a lote of attention on defence as they do on offence. See detroit? that team was all about defence and then offence. Thats why they were so successful. THey shut the team down first, got the team tires, and pissed, than they turned to offence and bang they win.

Well then it is the roster because these aren't Larry Brown's types of players. Like you said, they don't fit Brown's style of play. They don't have the mindset for it. IMO, Larry won't be successful here unless he brings in HIS guys.

true dat

who are his guys, jeffx? not snow and mckie anymore, right?
Thu Nov 10, 2005 3:30 pm
Well its expected, thats what happens when your main offseason acquistion is Eddy Curry and you trade a main stay forward(the only decent one they have) for a swingman and a point guard specially when you have a young stud named Trevor Ariza in the ranks. I bet the Knicks will lose Trevor in the offseason, hes never going to develop with Brown in control.
The Knicks are run by the second worst GM in the league right now and then they have the wrong guy coaching them, I mean drafting three rookies and expecting Brown to have faith in them is like expecting old Donny to be a good businessman and actually care about the Clippers.
The team is going to really struggle unless they land Greg Oden and some other fantastic franchise changing swingman(Rudy Gay maybe

) and then get rid of Crawford, Curry and finally Larry Brown...of course for this to happen Isiah Thomas has to get his ass booted out of the Big Apple.

A player who makes a committment to defense, hustle & fundamental basketball is a Larry Brown-type player, AG. In fact, I heard Brown wanted Eric Snow, but the Knicks were unable to get him. Snow, Mark Jackson - they have what Larry wants in a PG.
And Steve, I've said this time and time again - the Knicks are going nowhere until we get new ownership. Jim Dolan is a big reason why this franchise is in the toilet - he's one of the worst owners in the NBA.

That's Darko's revenge
Go Celtics-Pistons and Clippers

jeffx- so who do you think larry brown will ask isiah thomas to target for a trade/sign (realistically)
Fri Nov 11, 2005 10:55 am
i wasn't expecting it. The Knicks have a decent team, it ain't like they suck. What is wrong with Lary Brown?
Fri Nov 11, 2005 1:01 pm
better question is what is wrong with the knicks?
*cough* crawford *cough*

The first name that comes to my mind is Crawford. But with his phat contract, and NY's cap situation, I don't know what they can do.
Rick, the Knicks do suck. This is a team that was poorly put together. I supported Isiah at first, but he's made some questionable moves. They don't defend or rebound well, they don't play smart offense, and they have more turnovers than assists. You can see the pained look on Brown's face during games. This team has a poor basketball IQ.

actually i was asking who will brown ask isiah to trade FOR, not trade
