Good luck Wade..

Lol. I suspected that not many people will post here...not much to discuss... I just felt like posting it after I read it on an IGN article about NBA 2k6 screens

Last year, Lenard was injured for the season. This year, Nene is out for the season.

Tim Hardaway was bugged with injuries too
KG had a busted knee
Walker turned worse
Francis turned into a cancer
Kidd busted a knee too
Carter had injuries and played like a bum

Duncan seems unaffected...unless you count his choke job in Finals?

I think that for Melo was falling into obscurity after Wade and Lebron took over last season.

^^that's good enough.

Last year Finals when he won the MVP?

only by default really, IMO Robert Horry should have won it, he bailed everyone's as with those clutch shots and that mad dunk (charge) on Hamilton

Isn't that a little exagerated? Melo didn't fall into obscurity. He just didn't live up to the hype, the enormously big hype created by the media who said he was as good as LeBron.
Wade just came out of an surprising position, he wasn't regarded to be the kind of talent that he is labeled as now back when he got drafted. You can't base a conclusion like 'Carmelo faded into obscurity' on the fact that Wade blew up..

are you kidding me? last season was such a bust for him. can you imagine what he'd be like without george karl? sub 20ppg, 35% shooter. from all the praise he'd gotten as a tremendous passer, i doubt he coulda averaged over 3 last season. and the (lack of) defense.

so karl comes to save his career.

Vinces career was in shambles before he was on the cover. After he was traded he blew up in new jersey.

Garnett was on the cover in 2001, and would make all nba team numerous times and win mvp. hardly a curse. duncan is the same only add 2 rings and 2 mvps (and 2 finals mvps).

Iverson hasnt been effected by a curse either. Melo had one slump and its becuase of a cover? Dont be spastics.

It's like you guys are searching for a curse.. "omg jason kidd missed a free throw, he must be cursed from the 2003 game!"

The whole "Madden Curse" works better (as far as I've read anyway, I don't follow the NFL), but I guess you could twist a few incidents around to create an "NBA Live Curse" theory. But the bad luck generally happened at least a year or two after the cover or was the result of something that happened before they even made the cover. But hey, if we can twist horoscopes to make them sound credible and applicable to all of us, why not the game cover curse theories? ;)

But a couple aren't necessarily good examples. With Walker it's mainly a matter of his surroundings and Francis is pretty much the same player he always was in terms of attitude and playing style. Tim Bug's knees were bothering him as early as 1993, he missed the entire 93/94 season. And with Vince Carter's career (as Matthew pointed out) was on a bit of premature decline before NBA Live 2004.

It's a good example of superstition in sports though. I believe there's a "Sports Illustrated Curse" too.
