If you're gonna name MVP after 1 game, my vote is for Darius Miles.

32 points 11 rebounds 5 assists 5 steals 3 blocked shots and better than 50% shooting.

Either that or Chris Duhon's triple dub. I hope nobody put money on who got the 1st triple dub of the season :P

I wonder where all of the Kobe-haters are right now

Funny, i was wondering where all the people who said Kobe didn't need PJ to win?

Some of u guys think the lamar isnt a good counterpart...i agree somewhat....u must also think about the playbook too...scottie didnt do too much...only when mj didnt have a good night or when mj wasnt in the game....thats when scottie played with more offence...he always could play defence...same goes with L.A....everyone know that kobe has the run of the mil...lamar can score...and play defence...and he has a bigger frame than scottie...who else would the lakers get for lamar that would play good with kobe AND play well in the triangle??

Miles isn`t a guy who you can compare with kobe.

Kobe is taking so many shots and playing so many minutes. I wonder if he can endure his current pace for the rest of the season.

he's being efficient though. he shot 50% tonight. i'm convinced he'll win the scoring title this year unless odom starts scoring more like he did tonight

It was a great game indeed despite the loss. Kobe was eficient shooting 50% and Odom picked up his game last night. He too trigger happy beyond the arc though shooting 2-8. I am also really impressed by Smush Parker, one of my candidates for MIP.

Even without Stoudemire, Nash can still dish 17 assists. Great game by him as a well as Shawn Marion. James Jones, another candidate of mine for MIP played well too with 17 points and 3 rebounds.

Smushie () looks like an extremely intelligent player who learned the triangle very quickly. He's an ideal fit for it, with his athleticism, length, shooting range and ability to defend most of the SGs (at least for a shorter period of time). He'll do just fine.

Kobe with another 50+% shooting game to go with 37 points (y)

Last season around the same time Kobe had a hard time to stay above 40%

That game was so close with the Lakers chipping in, I was getting anxious. Phx still pulled through.

And damn, Kobe's turn-around fade-away jumper is money.

wtf??? hahahaha .

Kobe's contract is huge , so they need another huge contract in return . I don't think the Lakers would trade him though , if I'm not mistaken he has a no trade clause in his contract.
