monster on the boards. hopefully this lasts the entire season. best stat for him IMO is 0 turnovers.

Thu Nov 03, 2005 2:15 pm

His shooting sucked a bit tongiht but sounds like he played well. Haven't watched the game but I recorded it at home so I'm looking forward to it. From what i was reading in the real gm forum he was pretty vocal out there, having a go at the refs for bad calls etc. They kept saying he is playing quite confidently

On a side note: supposedly Richard Jefferson tried to break TJ with a hip and shoulder. What a tool!! (N) Second game after 1 and a half seasons injured and this c*** commits a flagrant against him. Good thing he was sent out of the game (also Mo Williams had a crack at RJ for the foul, gutsy bugger). The refs also called a technical on TJ for the incident so the nets went to the line even though (going by the radio) RJ just went for Ford. Refs

From what I read Mo Williams was tossed along with Jefferson but they brought him back in. According to RealGM anyway. Richard Jefferson's a wanker (N)

If you saw the play you wouldnt think so. TJ was continueing to hold Jeffesrons hand/wrist on the break so Jefferson pushed him, then Mo Williams jumped in and Jefferson semmed to tell him to get fucked. I cant see why Jefferson was the only player ejected.

Huge game for Bogut. He's in the prefect situation right now in Milwaukee. Redd and TJ are just carrying them!

Thu Nov 03, 2005 7:05 pm

You have to take into account how weak the nets frontline is. I wouldnt be shocked if brendan haywood gets 20 rebounds against these guys.

Thu Nov 03, 2005 8:30 pm

I guess it's more impressive that the Bucks trio of TJ, Redd and Williams outscored J Kidd, Vince and Jefferson 85-55. And although you are right about the Nets being a weak frontcourt team... 17 boards is pretty huge for a second NBA game IMO. Great morale booster!

Thu Nov 03, 2005 8:40 pm

Thats not that impressive. Kidd is a reluctnat scorer, he only shoots when his team needs him too. With Jefferson and Carter, he doesnt have to carry the scoring load like he did in 2002 and 2003. Redd just exploded. But 17 rebounds is great. Hopefully the australian media will take an interest in this kid and bring the profile of basketball back up in the country.

Thu Nov 03, 2005 9:35 pm

I don't think you can really take anything away from him based on the Nets frontcourt. I guess the only way is to compare his performance to other big men playing the same frontcourt.

Thu Nov 03, 2005 10:41 pm

Bogut looked pretty good against the Nets. He's pretty hesitant to take a lot of shots at present and he's getting rid of the ball like it's a hot potato, but I suppose that's to be expected. It's not leading to turnovers (in fact, he was turnover free against the Nets) and it's unselfishness that ultimately helps the team. I expect he'll assume a larger role in the offense as the season progresses, especially if he can show he can score around 12-15 ppg without the team running any plays for him.

I wonder what Bill Simmons has to say. I suppose he'd still bury him because he's not tearing up the league, but a look back at recent first overall picks and their first games suggests Bogut's first couple of "real games" are hardly awful; they're about par for the course.

Thu Nov 03, 2005 11:23 pm

did you also see the stat they had before the game?

he is doing better than other first picks (except bron) for the last 5-10years, something to think about...

Thu Nov 03, 2005 11:24 pm

Actually in his latest column he said Bogut "looked good" in pre-season, and that was it. He said the Bucks bandwagon will gather and didn't bag Bogut once

Thu Nov 03, 2005 11:26 pm

He's certainly changed his tune.

Bill Simmons:

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR
Andrew Bogut (in the words of Pete Carroll, "I'm as shocked as you guys!")

That's because you were using the collective basketballing knowledge of a retarded garden frog when you were giving your opinion on Bogut.

Sat Nov 05, 2005 12:32 am

i still think Chris Paul will be ROY. If not him then another small guy....maybe Felton if he gets to start, or Deron Williams.

I wanna see how Bogut does against a team with a capable big man.

maybe the garden frog lives in the bucks training gym :P

on a more serious note, when Smith comes back, Bogut wont be starting. thats why people have written him off as ROY

Sat Nov 05, 2005 7:01 am

Unless Smith fails to step up his game compared to the things Bogut will be doing.

Sat Nov 05, 2005 7:04 am

we can always hope... (Y)

Sat Nov 05, 2005 11:24 am

He didn't start against NJ and still ended up with 10/17

Sat Nov 05, 2005 1:19 pm

Well, if Smith plays, i think he'll also eat into some of Bogut's bench minutes.

There's obviously a reason he's going to sit behind Smith.

smith is injured, so bogut is starting at the 4 until he comes back.

bogut will be able to progress at his own rate by coming off the bench, and will probably be starting around halfway through the season. thats my bet.

either that, or he will continue to start if he continues to average a double double like he is atm.
if bucks continue to playt he way they are as a team, it would be stupid to change the lineup too much, so either starting with bogut or splitting time with smith is the way to go.

Yeah, I'd mis-read something and thought Gadzuric started against NJ. If he keeps playing like this Stotts won't be able to cut into his minutes or start Smith instead, it'd be ridiculous.

Sun Nov 06, 2005 4:18 pm

Against Miami, 6 points, 6 rebounds 1 assist and 2 steals. For some bizarre reason he hardly got any minutes in the 4th quarter, which is strange considering how he took over in overtime against Philadelphia but awell. The Bucks are really impressive.

Sun Nov 06, 2005 5:28 pm

not his best game, hopefully he turns it up a notch for his next one.
