He will be the best player of the Pistons soon. Not only does he have great defense, but his offense is improving. I think he's under rated a whole lot. 50M is underpaid...considering he probably gets raises every year so his current contract will be below 10M...which is lower than Michael Redd and Ray Allen! I don't think Michael Redd is that much better than Tayshuan Prince...
Bored.

the good thing about this deal is that it's signed with his offense still improving a whole lot more.

I think hes a little overpaid, but not enough to be criticized.

How they gonna pay for Big Ben at the end of this season? I hope he runs... :D. But he wont...

Prince is a great perimeter defender, his offensive repertoire is severely underrated and his game is tailor made for a team like Pistons, who have two inside defensive anchors in Wallace brothers (perhaps even three - Darko is a shot blocking machine, considering his stats in both preseason and European Championship tournament). But his defensive value would diminish on other teams without those characteristics, while his drive defense is just above average and his potential on that side of the court is hurt by his lack of lateral quickness. So, he's a very Bowenesque defender, but with much, much better offence. He could become a 18ppg scorer one day. Borderline fact is that he'll do a great job in earning his paycheck. He's not fragile, he can play 40mpg and he'll never do anything stupid - like strangling your coach, for instance. A perfect role player.

prince should thank rick carlisle and give like 2 million to him. Larry Brown, Pistons, would of never give prince this contract until they saw what prince could do in the playoffs

I wouldn't say one is either more valuable than the other, but they're both such different players, but equally as valuable to the team chemistry.

Prince is still fairly young and improving so I'm guessing they're mainly banking on his improvement in the future. He's a good defender, but his numbers last year don't really tell show any significant increase.

yeah but around the end of the season Prince started getting like 16+ ppg every game and like a few more rpg.

this season i think he'll probably average like 16 ppg and 6 rpg. maybe a block a game.

He's very very good...but $10M a year? That makes him the 2nd highest paid Piston next to Sheed...for the most abundant position in the NBA, the SF.

Sheed: $10M - $14M
Rip: $8M - $12M
Wallace: ?
Tayshaun: $10M
Billups: contract up in 2007...

*FOUR* players on the roster that will make double digits? With the new salary cap rules most teams balk at having even 3.

And what of the Finals MVP Billups? He's their playmaker, they run their offense through him. But having 5 players make $10M+ just isn't going to happen for any team, not even the Knicks or Lakers can do that.

And while i'm sure they plan on keeping everybody, that salary is going to make TP damn hard to move.

Yes, he's great on defense, but let's be serious he's not Ron Artest, and Ron makes $6.5M.

Yes I think they all are too, but since theres nothing we can do about it I just accept it and try to think as I have something to do with the NBA therefore understanding the salary shit
