Sheryl Swoopes gay??!?!?

It's about time a major athlete came out. Good for her. A league MVP, ALL-Star and good all around person. I just wish it had come from a mens league, maybe her announcement will make a men's Top-Four Sport come out.

They are there and they are quiet. Someday someone will be very shocked when they realize their favorite player is a homosexual. I can only hope for society's sake that that player would still be that kid's favorite and that the althete will be treated fairly.

I would still root for Michael Jordan if he was gay, I would still root for him had he not cheated on his wife, but that being said he's just another dumb jock.

Just like they were saying on Around the Horn, this will not effect the men's game. Men will not come out of the closet because of the endorsements, pressure, ect from the fans and media. However, you might see more women athletes coming out of the closest.

Takes some guts to come out of the closet like that .. specially when you're a public figure.. whatever rocks her boat.. even if it's a strap on.. :|
Preparation will only take you so far. After that you've got to take a few leaps of faith.

Not that there's anything wrong with that!

What I'd give for Becky Hammonds phone number :proud:

As for Sheryl Swoopes, she's made herself a target by admitting this. Whether thats right or wrong I dont care.

And she's not the only pro sportsman to say they're gay. Ian Roberts, who played Rugby league for australia came out during his playing career.

And the question about MJ, no i wouldnt be a fan of him still. I'd respect what he accomplished as a player, but i wouldnt have been a fan of his wizard comeback if he was gay.

I just dont like them.

Tracy McGrady is a gay as it gets.. (not implying there's anything wrong with it though) I have this cheap NBA magazine from like 2003 with a pic in it on which he is wearing some weird hat and a girlish jacket, opened up with no shirt or anything under it. :|

Tmac has a wife.. and yes im aware that Swoopes had (has?) a husband, but you cant assume someone is gay becuase of what they wear. If that was true, everyone who wears whats currently in fashion is a faggot (pink tshirt, tight jeans with wholes in them, ugg boots etc)

Yeah, that's true and the way I'll wrote it makes it sounds more like just my opinion.
You would agree with me though if you had seen the pic too. Maybe I'll get someone to scan it but I'm not sure if scanners can handle that..

Didn't former player and WNBA coach Nancy Lieberman come out a few years ago? I seem to remember some scandal about her getting involved with one of her players.

Alright I just saw it on ESPN....wow it is pretty shocking didnt except it from her but its good she let it out in the open without having to cover her act although some of the other players might feel a bit weird around her from now on like Elson did when he was up against KG.

She's right, no one talks about gay players in the men's leagues...its like they dont exist.

From the article:
I'm three years older than my ex-husband, and I matured a lot faster than he did.

WT? Why do women always say that they mature faster than us? :|
Olivia cruise lines, a company that caters to lesbians.

A ship full of "sockets" that doesn't need a "plug". :P
The WNBA is well aware of the support they get from the gay and lesbian community.

Whoa!
Most of the players around the league already know I'm gay, and I do feel like there's a sisterhood among lesbian players.

Sisterhood? A secret group? :shifty:
But the talk about the WNBA being full of lesbians is not true. I mean, there are as many straight women in the league as there are gay.

I guess she also had many rejections from straight women.

Good thing that she's happy with her life. (Y)

Lesbian or not, Lauren Jackson is still mighty fine.

Becuase women do infact start puberty before men, so they are phsyically more mature around the teen years. But what she is saying is a classic dyke line "im a woman, im superior to him becuase he's a man. im more mature " :x

Yep, I know that.
im a woman, im superior to him becuase he's a man. im more mature

That's the idea I'm referring to.
In the article, she said that the divorce with her husband wasn't because she was gay but because she's more mature than her husband.
