I like the selection even though it would have been nice to see Jerry Sloan win it seen as he'll probably be gone soon.

pfft!
what a stupid selection.
the onyl reason he got it was coz of the 60 wins.

IMO Musselman did a great job with that young team.
whats the beat the Warriors are a 45-50 win team next year! :D

Warriors overachieved, and props goto the coach for that, but they are not in the playoffs, had a sub .500 record so what can they show for it?

Its nice, but the NBA is a business where you have to win, and you get recognized when you win, Musselmen did not win, but he came close.

Jerry Sloan should have got it, he is one of the most underrated coaches in the NBA, and all the past couple of years people have been saying the Jazz were going to fall off, Stockton and Malone were too old, plus he takes retrodden and stepped on dirty players who cant get a spot as a water boy on another team and turns them into solid contributers in Utah....Calbert Chaney?

Even though Pops is a great Coach, he has Tim Duncan, the Jazz do not have a real dominant player anymore, Lakers have Shaq & Kobe, etc.

I don't think it was a terrible choice, as much as it is an odd one. The Spurs had a great season in the standings, and their roster is not as strong as it has been at other times during David Robinson's career, but it's far from terrible. Guys like Tony Parker and Stephen Jackson continue to play well and improve when given the opportunity.

Other coaches, including Musselman and Rick Carlisle are perhaps just as deserving as Popovich, but let's face it, the amount of responsibility a coach has for team success is usually either overrated or underrated. Carlisle won it last year, Musselman's a first year head coach and Popovich hasn't won it before (or has he?).

Again, not a bad choice, but not a selection that I for one was expecting.
