I dont know if this was brought up if so, lock it please.
Anyways who do u guys think the hardest players are to defend?
1 - Wade
2 - Arenas
3 - Shaq
4 - McGrady
5 - Duncan
Tue Oct 04, 2005 6:04 am
McGrady in my opinion probably the hardest forward/shooting guard to guard. At 6'8 he'll be real trouble for anyone to guard. Combine that with his leaping ability and a decent jumper and you have to really watch out for him.
I'm too lazy to write about others, so I'll just give a list.
-Shaq
-Amare Stoudemire
-Kevin Garnett
-Kobe Bryant
-Dwyane Wade
-LeBron James

-Shaq
-Amare Stoudemire
-Kevin Garnett
-Kobe Bryant
-Dwyane Wade
+ Tim Duncan.
No one can defend Shaq. Tim can guard Kevin and Kevin can guard Tim. Those two can defend Amare.
Allen Iverson, although Lue did an alright job against him but still AI torched him.

Only injuries can slow him down. I think a
healthy and
detirmined Vince Carter can be one of the best scorers in the NBA.

The hardest players to defend: the superstars.
Tracy, Kobe, Garnett, Iverson, Amare, Shaq, Dwyane, Dirk, etc. They all have many different moves and counter. You may be able to get in front of Kevin Garnett when he spins baseline on you, but then his 6'13'' frame will just shoot over top of you, and fade away too so you will never be able to block it.

Oh man, it's hard to put it in any kind of order since players have different styles (Amare's power vs. Iverson's quickness) but in no particular order, I'll put up the top ten:
- Shaquille O'Neal
- Amare Stoudemire
- Allen Iverson
- Kobe Bryant
- Kevin Garnett
- LeBron James
- Tim Duncan
- Tracy McGrady
- Dirk Nowitzki
- Dwyane Wade
I think our thread has just ended

in the phx-sas series, amare stoudemire torched duncan:
37ppg
55fg%
84ft%
all career bests

In that case, I take it back. Got the stats for the regular season games? Duncan vs. Amare?
Tue Oct 04, 2005 9:00 am
Let's not overlook Richard Hamilton. He can take some of the most athletic defenders out of a game in a heart beat. Defending him isn't all about matching up in size and speed. You have to fight through screen-after-screen through every possession.
Tue Oct 04, 2005 9:09 am
1) Shaq

duncan is right up there
just ask the bastard wallace brothers

Kobe shouldn't be on the list. He lets his man off the hook too much with silly hotdog shots which clank, especially in 4th quarters when he's tired.
1. Shaquille O'Neal
2. Tracy McGrady
3. Dwyane Wade
4. Allen Iverson
5. LeBron James

Wasn't Dirk OWNED by TMac in the playoffs? Dirk played so poorly when TMac was guarding him. So if you put a quick relatively tall guard on Dirk, but not a PF, it should work somewhat, I think.
Shaq would be the hardest to guard, followed by Tim Duncan.
I remember Madsen could guard KG pretty well, but not all games though. (I bet the only reason they keep on re-sigining him!)
Prince can guard Kobe and TMac.
Wasn't Ruben Patterson "the Kobe Stopper"?
I don't know what player can really contain Shaq by himself. Except maybe Hakeem Olajuwon at his prime?
Tue Oct 04, 2005 11:58 am
IMO,T-Mac is the hardest to guard of all players in current NBA..
Remember how he tharshed the Spurs in the final few second?and yea,he got Bowen on him too
Tue Oct 04, 2005 11:58 am
Shaquille O'Neal (one of the most dominant players in the history of NBA)
Amare Stoudemire (The "beast" is a rising force in today's league)
Dwyane Wade (An offensive machine, quick, agile, creative)
Tim Duncan (Big Fundamentals... simple, scientific, and effective)
Kevin Garnett (Quick, versatile, and seems to never ran out of moves)
Allen Iverson (Lightning quick moves, small but big in heart)
Tracy McGrady (T-Mac can score inside and outside, or everywhere)
Lebron James (The King can dunk, or shoot 3 points, or he can pass to his open team-mates)
Tue Oct 04, 2005 12:26 pm
Either McGrady, AI, and Shaq..
Tue Oct 04, 2005 12:36 pm
The Classic hardest players to defend:
Michael Jordan (NUFF said it all... Jordan is Jordan, period!)
Wilt Chamberlain (The most dominant force during his era)
Larry Bird (Smart and cunning... perimeter shooting and low post fake moves)
Hakeem Olajuwon (Hakeem's patented baseline spin moves and of course, his fade-away jumpshots)
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (At 7'2", The Captain's unblockable patented "Sky-Hook")
Jerry West (Mr. NBA's historical clutch shots)

As much as I hate him, I wouldn't underestimate him. He has quickness and strength to blow by his man as well as anybody in the league.
Tue Oct 04, 2005 12:51 pm
got to say my main man t-mac and noone else
yao ranks in second too
Tue Oct 04, 2005 1:29 pm
Dirk shouldn't be on the list....time and time again it's been proven that if you take away his shot he has nothing to offer.
Add Baron Davis to that list, when healthy he's hard to stop, even if he is jacking 3's. He's got bulk strength, speed and insane dribbles.
