What? So the case just ended... There's a punishment from NBA? And also from the federal courts?
Someone please explain, will they get to play?

This was the sentencing given to them by the police.. the nba games bans were given to them by the NBA

Is this really necessary? Then again, it should help deter future such events..as entertaining as it was..its not good for our beloved sport.

Cloudy, they'll get to play but this is what the 'courts' gave them as a punishment, the community service and fines is what they have to do to become unpunished (i forgot the word)... and the probation means if they do it again, they'll get more fines or soemthing

I suppose all the people in Detroit who went on the court and threw things at them are on probation too? No. It was a freak accident and if everyone isn't going to be held accountable for their actions why should these Pacer players?

It seems to me like they are picking on the wrong people. The guy threw the cup in a heated situation (Ben Wallace and Ron Artest) and Artest reacted. The rest of the team went up there to defend their friend and the crowd overracted. It was a lot of people's fault but having the players pay the consquences (as little as they are) seems unjust.

Riot you are 100% right. I still cant believe the public opinion of this is that the pacer players started this and are the guilty ones.

The detroit fans are the ones that started this, and its a joke that not only the pacer players recieved such big suspensions, but this as well.

I just wish people would realise perception is not reality.

I agree with you guys, but to be honest, I couldn't care less what they were setenced to as long as the punishment didn't keep them off the court.

I just want this whole thing behind us.

Eh, I don't really think this was necessary. I still agree 100% with the suspensions handed out by the NBA however.

No They got off waaaay too lightly.

I'm pretty sure criminal charges were brought against the fans arrested over the incident. But I too thought the Pacers copped too much of the blame with the Pistons getting off scot-free.

But the thing is, it wasn't just 5 people in the stands who were fighting. It was the whole freaking arena it seems like. And it just pisses me off that they get scott free while these Pacer players get the blame for starting it and being thugs.

They got off litely considering that, even though they didn't start it, they still assaulted people. Whereas the instigator got jail time i think.

No, the guy who threw the chair got jail time. They got asualted as well, more so than the "fans".
