All-Star Weekend

Postby Full Surface on Thu Apr 10, 2003 5:16 am

Every year, All-Star games and events have always been sometime during half-way through the season (most likely in February). To be honest, I do enjoy it being scheduled the way it is because sometimes we get bored of watching regular games and want more excitement (such as the Slam Dunk contests, etc). I don't dig the way that the All-Star game is always held during mid-way in the season though. That's just basically choosing people who played well during the 1st half of the season, not all of it. People like Allan Houston (who has been playing very well recently) might of gotten a chance to play in the game if people were watching how good he's doing right now. I think that the All-Star Weekend should be the weekend after the season ends. Well, I just want to hear everyone's opinion on this.

I think players would have even less interest in the first half of the season if the All Star Game would be moved to a later date. Now at least they have something to play for early on.

Many players don't like to play it in midseason... now, imagine if the game was held on a date that were supposed to be their vacation...

its for players who are most consistant..... Kenyon Martin first half of the season played same as last year, but after he was miised in the all star he played real well... it shows that only the most consistant once get it (most of the time, VC)

as dan pointed out the players would have less to play for early in the season.
i think the way they have the allstar game mid season is right,+ its more encouragement for the players to bring it from day one, to make the allstar team

Leave it the way it is - as mp3 pointed out, there's more incentive to play harder earlier in the season. Also, the possibility of injuries would probably not make an end of season All-Star game very appealing. A sprained ankle might not be much of a hassle if it means a few games missed after the All-Star break, but if the playoffs are in a couple of day's time, it would be a different story.
