yeah, i heard a few good things about philippinian player. there are a few players from china but japan and korea? can only thin of ha from korea cause he plays for the blazers!

Tue Sep 13, 2005 5:49 pm

oh yeah ASI TAULAVA

actually man, we filipino's are too short for the big ass leagues. we have to be asia's contender first before we move another step forward. the way the UAAP and NCAA are playing now in our country, we are far more behind that we thought we were. Japan's men are bulking up and scroching the net at the 3 point line. how about us? we still like to move like T-mac and Jordan yet we can't touch the rim in traffic. we have a long ways to go my friend. maybe if we get the economy right and our sports budget on the right track i may sense hope. but for now honestly we suck hard :| (N) 8-)

korean players is like an European players who love shooting 3's.same thing with Chinese and Japanese players..While filipinos love physical brand of basketball also showtime type game..well US influenced philippines to play like that..

COOLmac©,
yea i agree in some point but what actually destroying the Philippine Basketball is really our government that really suck..we always admire NBA so much thats why some of our players imitate them which actually cant funny!!but guys like Asi,D.Seigle, and Ren Ren will make us dream that someday Filipinos will play in the NBA..But i remember Johnny A who almost sign to the Charlotte hornets before sadly almost..

i think china is the best in asia aren't they? i think philippine have to adjust to china's style of play instead of continuing their own. by the way, what do you thin of iran and how they play?

i dont think so..
theres china, korea, japan, philippines.

the only thing their monster is because they have an import.

i remember them playing here in the Philippines for the fiba qualifying round they have 2 imports and philippines dont have import. if im not mistaken one of thier import is todd day, played for the bucks back then. they won. and when we play them on jones cup with the same line up without import, We won..

yeah China is the best in asia now although they lost to S.Korea in the Asian Games, theyre still the best..Countries like Iran,Qatar I mean those middle east countries is really improving they are taking the basketball game one step at a time..Philippines is most likely rank 3rd in Asia in terms of basketball (China,S.Korea,Philippines,Japan,Kazakstan) Iran plays a little bit stiff and their offense is really predictable.well they love shooting from outside as far as i know..But their team is really a team to watch here in asia. :!:

Tue Sep 13, 2005 6:05 pm

how is the cup going right now? i don't follow the asian games but one of friend told me iran qualified for the next round or something! believe me, iran has one of the worst government and they don't spend money on sport but only on their puckets! i like philippines team too lsame as i do with iran.

Tue Sep 13, 2005 6:13 pm

Yeah they are qualified for the semi final round well they have beaten S.Korea but this is different korea team since theyre players is mainly amateurs..The basis of the greatness in terms of basketball is the Asian Games..Which player like Yao ming ang wang Zhi Zhi will play for their China team who hopes to beat the real S korea team..

Tue Sep 13, 2005 6:17 pm

is ha playing for south korea? i don'y know his exact name something like ha seung-jin.
before this conversation, i didn't know that the asian basketball is rising and it has a lot of fans. now i know!

Tue Sep 13, 2005 6:27 pm

philippine have a lot of talents. but cant be harness due to the fact that government support and funding is not readily available. plus our coaches here have the mentality of the NBA. we should stick to what is effective in our basketball. like the european guys. inside outside game. they developed it over the years. while we pinoys stick to our slashing get block routine.
good job and great points guys. (Y)
china still has the height thoug. pinoys should in my opinion be able to produced SG and point guards the best at least for the moment

Tue Sep 13, 2005 6:32 pm

Yeah basketball in asia is getting much more appreciated fans are like crazy especially when the Philippines are playing..

I remember lee kyusup's lay up to tie the game and force ot to beat china.Yao scored 23pts I think and Menke Bateer of then drafted by the spurs added 14pts.

I think Ha played for the korea team but im sure his not part of that goldagainst mighty china..

Tue Sep 13, 2005 6:55 pm
