Top 10 Defensive players

Larry Hughes is so overrated defensively that it isn't even funny. HE ISN'T A TOP DEFENSIVE PLAYER!!! Just because he gets a lot of steals doesn't mean he's a great defensive player.

I agree. Stats doesn't show everything. He gambles a lot on defense thats why he gets so many steals.

1. Ben Wallace- not the best 1-on-1 defender but no player in the league impacts the other teams offense like Ben.

and kemp... if u live anywhere near the key arena-youd know that bowen should be on the top 10 list... allen has been shut down so many times by him.

10 Kevin Garnett ( Six time All defensive 00-05, 1.37 bpg last season)

9 Theo Ratliff [(Always in the shot blocking list, Led NBA in blocked shots in 2000-01, with a 3.74 bpg average , averaged 3.00 bpg in 1999-2000 (4th in the NBA), he led all of his former teams in block shots also his current team Portland)]

8 Marcus Camby [( Led the league last season in Total blocks with 199 and led the NBA in 1997-98 in blocked shots (3.65 bpg)]

7 Bruce Bowen ( "Superstar" stopper, his contribution in defense cant see in the stat sheet )

6 Larry Hughes ( 2004-05 NBA Steals Leader with 2.89 spg )

5 Allen Iverson ( 6 ft player who always steal the ball.)

4 Tim Duncan [(Has earned a spot on the All-Defensive First Team each of the last five seasons after being named to the All-Defensive Second Team as a rookie in '97-98) , Just the second player in NBA history to be named to both an All-NBA Team and an All-Defensive Team in each of his first six seasons (David Robinson was the first and he earned the honors in each of his first seven seasons)]

3 Shaquille O'neal ( Two-time NBA All-Defensive Second Team selection (1999-2000, 2000-01, Most intimidating player so far )

2 Andrei Kirilenko ( 6 foot 9 inch player who lead the league in Blocked shots last season 3.32BPG )

Theo Ratliff is slowing down considerable in the past two years. He got outplayed by Joel Pryzbilla last year. Ratliff is no longer a top 10 anymore.

You're kidding right? Theo Ratliff is one of the worst defensive bigmen in the league. Just because you're a shot blocker doesn't at all mean that you're a good defender. He is the easiest guy in the league to post up, he doesn't put a body on you in the post, he just jumps and puts up his hands. Theo is widely considered a TERRIBLE defensive player.

is tyshaun prince that good of a defender? i didnt really remember him being a good defender, why isnt iggy on anyone elses list,
if you watch a lot of sixers games you will see how tenacious his defense is

Ben Wallace is such an overrated defender. His one on one defense sucks. He's an excellent shot blocker and his presence is excellent, but he can't stop anybody one on one.

wow i thought i was the only one who thought of this.. ben wallace is an overrated defender.. he's a good team defender but individually he's pretty bunk.. the dude can't guard KG, TD, JO by himself if his life depended on it.

I'd agree with that list besides having Garnett so low. I believe Garnett is overall a better defender than Tim Duncan. I know I'm a homer, but Garnett's defense leaves a bigger impact than Duncan's. Plus, Duncan has always had some other shot blocking presence next to him (Robinson and now Nazr). Garnett has only had Rasho and you guys know Rasho sucks because he is playing with Duncan now. :lol:
