The San Antonio Spurs have announced that they have re-signed free agent forward/center Sean Marks. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"Sean is important to the chemistry of our team," said Head Coach Gregg Popovich. "We’re thrilled to have him back."

Well he's not a good player, but as I saw he's a cool guy and has very good chemistry with all the players in the team.

Sean Marks reminds me of Scot Pollard but not quite as much of a goofball. :D

He did not play much last year but when he did play he was a pretty good player. I remember in a game that he made two monsterous dunk!
Glad we re-signed him. Good chemistry and seems loved by the whole team (Y)

Better then losing Brad Miller for absolutly nothing eh? Also better then signing Brad to an incredibly lucrative deal that wouldn't have allowed us to give Reggie another contract, and would have kept Jermaine O'Neal from re-signing.

To me, i think Sean Marks is the most athletic player in New Zealand Tall Blacks.
I hope there're more NZ centers/forwards like him..

However, Finley is given #4.. then what number will be given to Marks?

yeah, my man is back in the fold....maybe this year those bastard Spurs will make him their 12th man in the playoffs so he can get a ring this season

Marks doesn't suck, he's a fairly athletic big man who has a pretty decent midrange jumpshot....nice dunker for a white boy....there's some pretty mediocre big men around that Marks is better than....he does have the ability, if given consistent minutes, to be fairly productive off the bench....I know that won't happen, but yep, am happy that the Spurs are a smart organisation and re-signed him (Y)

Good to see New Zealand will still have a representative in the NBA, though now that Bogut's in the league there's no need to "adopt" him so he'll remain his true nationality...kind of like Russell Crowe if he gets into any more trouble. ;)

Russell Crowe....you can have him, we don't want him....we'll take by Phar Lap, pavlova and some other crap....

I'm still hoping Kirk Penney catches on somewhere....he had a pretty good run in the NBDL from what I heard but like Marks really does need to be in the right situation

Well then...I guess if Russell Crowe screws up again, he'll be a man without a homeland.

Wasn't Penney on the Bucks' summer league team?

all he needs to do is convince Spurs management to include him in the playoffs roster. that way he's earning money while doing virtually nothing except practice. he gets to be in the NBA. and he'll have a chance to get a championship ring. great life

null17, yep, I'd like that job....but Marks isn't the type of guy who would force his way onto a playoff roster....I think he knows he's in a good position....

Andrew, yep you're right, completely forgot about Penney being on the Bucks' summer league roster....shame Bogut doesn't have any trans-tasman patriotism or Penney would be a certainty to stick....there ain't many top notch shooters around so he's definitely got a chance of sticking somewhere, especially if someone like Matt Walsh got signed to a 2 year deal....

I was going to say, trans-Tasman rivalries should be put aside so the ANZAC infiltration of the NBA can continue. :)

yep, definitely....the more the better....as a Kiwi I always got great joy from seeing Aussies get drafted....when the day came that Marks got drafted, it was superb....and then guys like Mark Dickel (led NCAA in assists his senior season and Honorable Mention All-American) and Kirk Penney (All Big 10 1st Team I think) and had very good college careers and those 3, along with Pero and Phil Jones moved NZ bball to a new stratosphere....from what I hear from family and friends back in NZ, is that bball is a lot more popular now, and definitely more popular than it is here in Australia....

but now Aussie bball is getting back on track (which is good) with guys like Bogut there, Newley and some of the US college guys coming through....should be good....

But the Breakers did real bad in aussie...

As for Marks, at least he gets to practice with Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Manu, Robert Horry, Michael Finley etc etc... to get ready for the Tall Blacks..

People have said it , hes good for the chemistry in the lockerroom. Everyone on that team likes him , and even in games hes always on the bench cheering his team on or talking to some players . He might not be a good player but he is a good person to have around.
