The Rockets have offered them some office space in the toyota center which they are currently using right now.

They didn't have any fans in the first place.
They should move the team to Vancouver now.

A new team called Vancouver Hornets! The New Orleans Arena is OK as it filled with 23,000 refugees at the moment. The Hornets might need to share their home court with the Bobcats this season unless all refugees can find their own home which is unlikely.

Why would the Hornets share the same arena as the Bobcats? That's not exactly close to home...

Surely somewhere else in Louisiana (similar to the Sonics playing in Tacoma before the Key Arena opened...or am I mistaken there?) would be more appropriate. Or if they're going to venture out of state, somewhere in Texas or one of the other adjacent/nearby states (which Stern would probably like as it would draw crowds from a couple of states that don't have NBA clubs).

The real issue of course is how the people of New Orleans will get on with their lives and deal with losing family members and friends.

I'd be quite interested to know if any NBA players' mansions had been destroyed during this.

Why do that when they could share with Washington instead

I think he is reffering to charlotte because that is the hornets old home . but that arena is way to east , so never gonna happen.

I think they might move to Kansas City or Las Vegas, I mean their still struggling financially and now they'll find it hard to recover from this. They move now to a hungry city like Kansas or Vegas they'd be having the crowds and income needed to establish themselves as a sufficient NBA franchise, I dunno but I can see a shift of cities happening.

I wonder if their allowed to change their team name to something more approriate if they move or whether they have to wait till next year to do so.

Kansas City Hornets
Las Vegas Hornets

:?

But getting back to the original question, the Hornets staff have moved to Houston and I believe the players must have flown to their respective hometowns for now and will probably go to Houston once training camp begins.

Whatever they do, they should not change the name to the New Orleans Hurricanes. (N)

Basketball should be the last thing on anyones minds. People are still trapped in New Orleans. This isnt a disaster, this is a disgrace.

So because we aren't crying and worshipping the people lost every freaking second we are a disgrace? It's a simple and honest question. Get a clue.

I'm not saying you or anyone here is a disgrace, the response to the disaster has been. The fact that 3 or 4 days after its occured that people are still strandid is a disgrace. And despite what your pink flower loving mind says, when people are more concerned with when and where the hornets will be playing instead of helping the individuals that are in a desperate situation is wrong.

I'm more concerned about helping the individuals but what the hell can I do? I donated $100 from my paycheck that would usually go to gas money. That's all you can do. It's not like we can all drive down there and start digging. 1. Not everyone can do that and 2. they aren't allowing people to come down and help.

So talking about where a sports franchise is going to play after a natural disaster is completely relevant and not wrong. Who says it's #1 on his priority list?

I commend you for donating Riot.

Just imagine for a minute, if 3 days after 9/11, people we're asking "where are the knicks going to play?". Wouldn't you agree thats in a bit of bad taste?

True, but I think the question is a reaonable one and I don't think he meant it in disrespect to the victims. It was just a question.

I was expecting someone to say this, but this is a basketball section, so it's no big deal. I remember someone sayings this on RealGM, and some getting angry, some people do want to know, it's a basketball site, you're not going to be posting about the hurricane relief efforts in the basketball section.

It's just a little bit too soon to thinking about this... People are still stranded and in need of help.

The disgrace part was how long it took for help to actually arive. I wasnt saying its a disgrace that people brought up the hornets.

It's just too soon to be "moving on".
