Lakers vs. Celtics in general.... where the climax of it was when Magic and Larry were on the court.

BTW... the 2000's Lakers didn't have any rival... except for the Kings.

Not the best poll choices.

Lakers vs. Kings circa 2002 is definately my favorite most recent one. All 7 games were awesome. Well, cept game 5. I hate you Robert Horry!!

I didn't get into bball during the Magic vs. Bird years, and probably'd be too young to remember anyway.

I loved the Bulls vs. Jazz circa 97 and 98 and Knicks vs. Heat 97-00 rivalries.

Bulls vs. Knicks were great too.

I personally like the Bulls and Knicks during the 90s. Jordan's Bulls against Ewing's Knicks. They battling each other many times during the 90's playoffs. I like the excitment. MJ always defeated Ewing's Knicks.

what's with that Lakers vs Pistons 2000's? there was no rivalry at all.

Pistons rivalry is with Indiana...that's the biggest in the NBA atm....and Lakers was with Sac-to.

Hype-wise? Shaq vs. Kobe

Matt stole my thunder.

Other then Pacers rivalries with the Knicks, Pistons and to a lesser extent, Magic, Celtics and Bulls, I loved the Lakers-Kings rivalry, and the Lakers-T-Blazers rivalry.

lakers vs celtics, i think there is no better rivalry then these one!

Mon Aug 29, 2005 3:39 am

the 2000, 2001, 2002 Lakers rivalry was with the 1999, 2003 Spurs. That's a rivalry when two teams meet over the course of several years and slug it out.

With the choices given I'd say the Celtics and Lakers which actually spans before the 80's but a classic one without question. The Jazz and Bulls wasn't a rivalry per se but I guess meeting two years in a row means something. The Pistons & Bulls or Pistons & Celtics were better suited to be called rivalries.

In the last 10 years the only thing that comes close to a rivalry in my opinion is the Spurs vs. Lakers for a battle of champions and on a lighter note Pistons vs. Pacers but one sided victories in the playoffs are hard to consider a rivalry.

I vote Magic vs. Bird to clarify my voting.

Mon Aug 29, 2005 6:15 am

lakers vs celtics in the 80's all time best that's ive seen

then...
pistons vs celtics late 80's
bulls vs pistons 90's
bulls vs knicks 90's

That's what I think.
When I imagine a rivalry, it's LAL vs. BOS.

Mon Aug 29, 2005 3:13 pm

I think the Indiana/New York (Reggie Vs Spike Lee) was awesome

Mon Aug 29, 2005 3:15 pm

Lakers vs. Celtics

Oh and Lakers-Kings cant be considered a rivalry because the queens were never really able to beat us.

Mon Aug 29, 2005 3:16 pm

I didn't start watchin basketball till like 2 years ago , so I don't know at all about these rivalries .I think a future rivalry could be the bulls and the wizards , they had one of the most exciting playoff series this year and they are both still young.

Mon Aug 29, 2005 3:28 pm

The best rivalry still alive in the NBA is the Nuggets/Wolves rivalry.

They'd a beat ya in 02 if you didn't have that 13th man the officials in your back pocket.

That was one of the worst most obviously biased officiating series in the world.

Mon Aug 29, 2005 4:42 pm

Still the Kings have not won the Lakers during that "rivalry". The fact remains the same. Officials are part of the game. Doesn't excuse the Kings from a horrible game 7 anyhow.

Pistons v Pacers....it started before either team was actually good. I believe Corliss Williamson and JO had a confrontation after a hard foul. At this time i believe ex Pacers assistant Carlisle was coaching Detroit.

The Carlisle gets fired and signs with the Pacers. Ex Indy coach LB signs with Detroit. The teams play out 4 tough games in which things get physical. In the playoffs they meet in the Conf Finals....Indy steals Game 1, Rasheed promises Game 2, Prince blocks Reggie Millers shit, Artest elbows Hamilton. Pistons win

This season....The Malice @ The Palace...need i say more. Another Pistons 4-2 win.

Dale Davis whom just played for Indy signs for Detroit.
