The trade for me favored the T'wolves..Because why?it's all about age difference.Marko can still play maybe 10+ more seasons than Sam and that might be the last team of him.In terms of performance is concern,Sam is a great as a point he is a solid point guard winning 2 rings is not a joke especially his the starting guard there(houston)that could help LA a lot (experience) while Marko,he is good maybe a little bit more playing time and less injuries.but I really love his work ethic his quick decisions and of course his versatility as a point guard well he can also play 2 guard and lastly he can be a streak shooter.

It feels like an even deal to me since both sides can benefit from the deal while taking a risk. Both Cassell and Jaric missed more than 20 games last year, the Clippers are trading young for old and the Timberwolves are trading veteran experience for two players who have never seen playoff action. On the flipside, Minnesota gets some youth and potential (which they could use) and the Clippers get a capable veteran (which they in turn could use).

In terms of the players and their roles, I think the trade works. The risk is whether Cassell and Jaric can shake their nagging injuries.

I will miss Sammy big time this comming season. He is a great point guard even though he can't play defense at all. Sam brings attitude, leadership, craftiness and laughter to every team he is on. He is the kind of guy who can lead a team on the court.

However, he is almost 36 and his injury problems as of late are a concern. His hip can't hold up for starter minutes + 82 games I don't think. I honestly don't think of him as a starting point guard anymore, he's more of a 6th man kind of guy. When the Wolves started making the push to make the postseason it was because Cassell was back and the 6th man. He could come in and put up 16 points and 4 assists in about 20 minutes. However, Cassell would be in there in crunch time. The guy is simply clutch. Clipper fans will be amazed at Cassell's ability to hit big shot after big shot.

Why would the Wolves trade him? Simple. He doesn't fit our new system that Casey is installing. Casey wants the Wolves to run more and become a better defensive team. Sam Cassell cannot do either one of those things. Marko Jaric is a great combo-guard who can also play a little bit of the 3. He is a pass-first guard and a great defender. I have two concerns with Jaric though.

1. Can he stay healthy? For his first 3 seasons in the league he has never played 82 games. Hell, I think his average is about 58 games played per season. He needs to remain healthy.

2. Can he guard point guards? He is big and strong but he is quick enough to guard the fast point guards in the league? If not, I have a feeling we'll see Trenton Hassell guarding the point guards or have Hudson and Jaric start in the backcourt.

Overall, it was a good trade. The pick and Chalmers are just distractions. The pick is lottery protected and Chalmers most likely won't make the Wolves roster.

There is one more thing. I heard Garnett is pretty upset over the trade because him and Cassell were best friends. I hope Garnett can put his personal feelings aside and realize it was best for the team.

As in laughter you mean laughing at him right?

I dont know where you get injury prone from. Cassell had last year that he didnt play much because of injury, the reason he missed soo much time was because the hip that bothered him last year in the playoffs and this last season could have been totally different if Cassell instead of waiting on surgery til after the playoffs, where he sat and watched his team lose to the Lakers, he could have gotten the surgery done then and he would have been healthy for this past season.

And with everyone saying Sam is "injury prone" look at his last 6 seasons...

..YEAR..G
99-00 81
00-01 76
01-02 74
02-03 78
03-04 81
04-05 59

Except for last year he has been pretty durable, all these games played were after he turned 30 So dont jump to conclusions and say hes a broken toy..

I should have chosen a better word, but I think this injury he has will continue to bother him, and he won't be very durable now.

lol if Lakers and Clippers ever face each other in the playoffs then I think the Lakers will have a home game all 7 games since they got more fans.

back on topic, good trade for minny i think.. They get a younger player who isn't too bad.

I think the Clippers made the right move, they have Livingstone as there PG of the future, they didnt need Jaric as well. Cassell is a "down the stretch" clutch performer with championship rings, what more could you want to compliment talents like Brand/Maggette/Mobely?

Clippers look better now than they have for years, definately a playoff threat

The key here is Troy Hudson and his health... If he returns to full health, he should be manning the point. He is a very good player, but he IS injury prone. Marco Jaric will probably be coming off the bench to back up the point and shooting guard positions.

Minnesota just got started... I don't think they're finished just yet. Let's wait and see how things work out for them.

This was a good deal for both teams... Clips are looking for more immediate results at the moment and Minnesota is getting rid of excess luggage. I think Minnesota wants to be a player next summer in the free agent market... If they could land Yao or Amare to play with KG, now that would be intresting... Not likely to happen, but I think they will try to scoop in a few good young players and start building from there.

Timberwolves will never be under the cap. If they wanted to be players in free agency they would dump Hudson, Wally, Hassell and theyw ouldn't have signed Madsen and Skita to such big contracts.

Oh yeah, they signed Madsen and Skitta... What a waste of dollars... Spell it with me W-A-S-T-E!

Madsen hasn't done anything with his career and Skitta hasn't had a chance to do anything with his career. If Skitta can play and does get the chance to play, he could be a good signing, but I don't see why Madsen is so highly regarded, he is so average in everything. If he was 7'2" tall, then these contracts would make sense, but he isn't even a big body.

Mark Madsen is a great player to have. He gives 200%, he is great for team chemistry and he is a fan favorite. I don't think he should have gotten a 5 year deal but he is the kind of guy every team needs.

Lakers of course. The Clippers very seldom have any kind of advantage, though last year's standings would have given them the higher seed (and thus officially home court advantage). That series would really be an oddity.

I think its a shitty trade imo.. I'd rather have Jaric on my team by far. Although Cassell does bring experience to the team. But that enormous head of his is weird :? Looks like Jae. payback biatch!

When did Cassell have an enormous head, hes just a bit different looking. Does every NBA player have to look like a stud?
Course Cassell's head may look gigantic to you since your ones so small, that would explain alot of things now wont it.

Lol, woah Steve...it's become a habit to pick on Sam's alien-ish looks. No need to get all worked up about it, it's just something we do on the forums.

We're not really all that serious about him being ugly, well, we are, but it's all in jest.

We had plenty of bandwagoning when Gentry was here, but your right if we win this season theirs going to be alot of people claiming their Clipper fans but they just hid because they were too busy bandwagoning someone else.

I do hope we move from Staples, although it'll suck to see the Clippers move to Anaheim cause Id almost never be able to go for a game then due to travelling.
