Christmas Repeat For Lakers-Heat

2nd August, 2005 - 6:16 am

Daily News - The NBA schedule for the 2005-06 season won't be released for another week, but Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant will meet in a Christmas Day showdown on ABC for the second consecutive year, sources said Monday.
It will be the seventh consecutive season that the Lakers have played on Dec. 25 for a network telecast, but this year's game will take place in Miami rather than Staples Center. The cast of characters also has grown to include Phil Jackson, welcomed back as Lakers coach this summer.

And for those who can't help but watch a car wreck, it will be a second chance for the Corvette and brick wall to have at it.

The Lakers lost 104-102 to the Heat in overtime last season, the first meeting between Bryant and O'Neal since their breakup the previous summer. It was the highest-rated NBA regular-season game in nearly seven years and possibly the most-hyped in history.

Do you seriously ever get tired of doing that?

I thought it was a fairly entertaining show last time, I don't see why they wouldn't. It's a fairly obvious that they're doing this for the ratings though, which isn't that bad.

That was expected,as it's hyped like no other regular season game and is appearently appealing to the fans.

Great news. Kobe vs Shaq, but this time he has a bit more help in Phil Jackson and Kwame... I can see it now: Lakers down by one, Bynum goes to the line to shoot 2 free throws and misses them both in front of shaq.

The match up should be interesting after this offseason. Two different teams but same cores from last season (cept LA lost Caron)... Magic Johnson said Kobe's been working out every day and he's real focusesd. I hope it's true. This next Christmas game may be as good as last season's!

Isn't he always, heh.

I think it will be a blowout, or at the very least, a not so close game (like 7-10 points).
