Len Bias

Is here anyone old enough who remembers watching him play? I always read how athletic he was, how unstoppable was his jump shot, but I got a general idea that he was a tweener. Something between 3 and 4. Surely, he had talent, but was his game suitable for the NBA? What kind of a player was he?

If I can't remember him play, then few in this forum can...

Len Bias was going to be the next greatest player, and Boston was lucky to pick him. He was young, raw talent, and full of hype as much as LeBron was when he was drafted. I think something like three days after he was drafted, he died of cocaine overdose, and that was the end of Len Bias, who could've made an impact on the NBA, but made an impact in a different way. Moral: don't do drugs.

I'm a Terps fan and I've seen tapes of this guy who I believe could have propelled the Celtics into the next decade.

The closest comparison I can find is quite ironic because it's the number two pick in this year's draft -- Marvin Williams. But Bias, who went to college for more than one year, was much more refined and established and would have made an immediate impact on the league.

Yes, Len Bias was that good. I thought he was going to be up there with the other great Celtics. Boston was counting on him to lead them after the Bird/Parrish/McHale era. When he died, it hit me like a ton of bricks. I was like, oh no, not Len! Damn. It took Boston a long time to recover from that loss. Can you imagine how good Boston would have been with the Bias-Reggie Lewis duo?

Yeah, it looked like Boston lost their luck in the second half of the 80'. They could have had Len Bias and hie died, the same thing happened with Reggie Lewis, plus the lost the lottery which could have won them Tim Duncan.

I think Boston could have won another title if Len played with the Holy Trio. He'd be a force coming off the bench.
