i hope this doesnt go through. id rather we (cleveland) keep gooden and get sarunas.

and besides im not a jaric fan, wilcox though, i like.

If Gooden get traded, he will backup Brand. Either traded or not, Marshall probably play more minutes than Gooden. So at the end, Gooden's value will decrease.

Sasha, Gooden for Wilcox and Jaric? I see Elgin enjoys being raped.

Wilcox has potential to become a very, very good starter in this league, while Jaric (6'8'' PG) would give Cavs an amazing versatiility in their backcourt. Not only that their starting five would be one of the best in the East, so would be their bench.

He also has the potential to get his ass thrown in jail, since he likes playing with guns in his car and what not.

Wow that was so enlightening Mad Handle.

The Lakers should trade Kobe for Penny Hardaway, seeing that Kobe has been in Jail.

Philly should trade Iverson for Jalen Rose, becuase Iverson has been arrested too.

And while we're at it, lets see Larry Bird trade Artest for Glen Robinson (wherever he signs), becuase winning isnt important, its about the potential of being in jail.

glenn has been in trouble with the law too.

I kind of like this trade for the Cavaliers.

If they manage to sign Sarunas Jasikevicius they can have Marko Jaric backing him up or even vice versa, either way it would be pretty good.

Marshall will more than likely end up starting over Gooden and he won't be very productive coming off the bench, so you can have Wilcox playing behind Marshall.

With that said, what would become of Jeff McInnis? Traded? Released? The Cavaliers still need a C to play behind Ilgauaskas, maybe they can use McInnis to trade for one?

Varejao.

I really doubt they'd take both Jasikevicius and Jaric, since they already have a backup PG in McInnis for example. I recently read that Jaric would even be their first choice, which kind of baffles me.

That's why I asked what would become of McInnis if they traded for Jaric and signed Jasikevicius. I never said it would happen for sure, just something I think would help them more than keeping McInnis.

I don't know about that. Wilcox is overhyped by a lot of people, he's very athletic, but outside of that, he has one good month a year, and that's about it.

He's a fairly good scorer, but he's a bad defender, weak rebounder, bad shot blocker, is not effective as a backup center [which is why he didn't get too much PT], and is inferior to Gooden in basically every way.

Gooden is a better shooter, rebounder, shot blocker, stealer, more intense, a better defender [though not that good himself], and a better passer even. What advantages does Wilcox have over him?

Jaric is a loss, but it's a situation where he wanted to leave anyways because he wasn't going to start, which is something he wanted. He's also very injury prone, and like I've said many times, has yet to play 67+ games or 1800+ minutes in an NBA season. Basically it becomes Wilcox for Gooden, which helps the Clips, and the Cavs also benefit.

Gooden has shown that he's not as effective coming off the bench as he is when he starts, but we'll see how that works out. He needs motivation to play well, but either way he's an upgrade over Wilcox.

At dotorg i wrote:A Brand at center expieriment wouldnt work out too good, Amare is soo athletic and fast for his size he can just blow by other centers. Brand on the other hand is a strong methodical PF who uses his post game to score not thhe fast break, because thats what the Clips would be with Brand at C too small to suceed at the half court game..

Sun Jul 24, 2005 12:17 pm

Brand is actually quite athletic, but he's also only 6'8, and not Amare athletic, even Amare is 6'10. Brand at center would just be a terrible idea...

Sun Jul 24, 2005 4:02 pm

how about the Cav try to pull a deal with the Clips? how about trading Gooden, Marshall and others and money for Brand. If that deal goes thru Clev will be set for at least 5-7 years in the PF position. Brand is a proven 20/10 anytime.

Sun Jul 24, 2005 4:22 pm

they can't trade Marshall for a few month due to regulations, i think. I think Brand is underrated. He can average a double double, and a very good defender. As for the Gooden trade for Jaric and Wilcox, i think it's a good trade. Though the cavs will lose a rebounder, the combination of Wilcox and another PF on the team will make up for it. Gooden is also very quick for his size. Jaric is one of the rare players. He's a PG with the height of a SG/SF. If you just look at the "numbers", it's a good deal for both teams, but injury coud change everything.

hey nobody likes playing in the clips! ask Bobby Simmons :) and in a few years Brand too :) by the way when was the last time they were in the playoff ? :D

The last time they had Larry Brown.

Elton wont leave, the only team he'd prolly play for besides us is New York but with Isiah running the show they would only have the MLE to offer him whereas Sterling would give co-ownership of the Clippers just so that Elton stays.

I dont like the trade for Gooden, hes a good PF but what we need is a shooting guard. We should go and get The Truth somehow, Im sure Ainge will trade him if we keep pushing for it and Pierce would love to be traded to a club closer to home.

Keep developing Kaman cause hes got potential regardless of how he looks(he does look like a second round pick) and try and keep Wilcox as backup.

Its a shame we couldnt pick JR Smith last season, we should have sent Bobby Simmons for a late teens draft pick and landed JR and then we wouldnt have to be signing Cuttino Mobley and could have gone after Chandler or Curry.

Sterling and Baylor probably feel good with Mobley, for the time being.

Clippers/Cavs Sign-And-Trade Deemed Fictional Rumor

The rumored Marko Jaric sign-and-trade involving the Cavaliers is fictional, a league source said.

The rumored deal had the Los Angeles Clippers signing Jaric and sending him to the Cavaliers, along with power forward Chris Wilcox, in exchange for power forward Drew Gooden.
The source said there's no truth to the rumor.

The Cavaliers are in the market for a point guard and are very interested in the 6-foot-7, 217-pound Jaric. They also don't have the necessary salary-cap space to sign Jaric, who wants a contract starting around $5 million a season. The only way to acquire Jaric would be a sign-and-trade.

I cant see the Clippers going for a starting calibre PF when they have Brand there.

I think they should keep Gooden personally, run Marshall at SF (hes played SF before) and use a backcourt of James and Hughes. They'd be the tallest team in the NBA and they'd be able to shuffle James to SG/SF bringing Snow off the bench.

I agree with your points but unfortunately, Gooden will be backing up Brand.

Well the rumour isn't true anyways.

Akron Beacon Journal - After losing out on Sarunas Jasikevicius to the Indiana Pacers , the Cavaliers are just to find a creative to land Los Angeles Clippers free agent point guard Marko Jaric.

With only $3.5 million in capspace at there disposal, general manager Danny Ferry will probably have to work out a sign and trade with the Clippers to obtain him.

``There are five or six teams still interested in Marko,'' Jaric's agent, Bill Duffy, said Sunday. ``He's still very interested in the Cavs.''

Jaric will visit with the Cavaliers on Tuesday.

Some possible trade bait options include Luke Jackson and Sasha Pavlovic.

Jaric is going nowhere. The Clips said they will match any offer and are not interested in a sign and trade.
