Yea, the final build of last version of it costs 600$ retail. You can, however get a evaluation copy of it here (free for 30 days).

Anyway, the Adobe CS package (including Illustrator, InDesign, etc) costs about a couple grand. Yeah, it's expensive as hell, but it's a bargain for a multibillion dollar graphic design industry.
