Who brought K Malone and G Payton to the Lakers? I think it was Shaq.

Who brought all those great supporting players to Miami? I think Shaq.

If I were playing in the Nba and the Lakers approached me with a offer sheet, I would have to think about it because of the infamous Kobe persona. However, I'd love to play alongside Lebron James.

ok so you are betting that a nba player is purposely breaking nba rules ( a la joe smith/minnesota debacle)

Good call Jae. They would have went nowhere without him. I was really pissed because he should have been the 6th man of the year.

Damon Jones for sure, not sure if anyone else came because of Shaq.

The HEAT signed Dorell, but he doesn't count since he's a rookie. He didn't even have 15 averaged minutes on-court.

Damon came because of Shaq.
Steve Smith came in the middle of the season, but not thanks to the big guy. :|

I know Qyntel Woods joined the Heat because he don't want to get block by Shaq.

I think theres too much that can happen in 2 NBA seasons to tell yet.

If Pheonix dont win a champion ship in the next 2 years and seem to be on a downhill slide then Aare` may blame management and move on.

Houston should make big moves in the next 2 years if Stro signs with them. again, if they dont become a contender look for Yao to explore the market.

I don't know why we signed him, there were much better SF FAs available.

And I also don't know why is it funny to say that "Qyntel Woods joined the Heat because he don't want to get block by Shaq"... :?

Payton will not return to the Lakers. The screwed him and sent him to Boston.

What I'm wondering, though,is if PJ is gonna stick around for another 2 years..? (I don't know how long he signed for)

3 Years 30 Mill.

"Aaron Goodwin, the agent for both Gary Payton and Damon Stoudamire, said Wednesday there is mutual interest between his clients and the Lakers and there have been "positive conversations" about one of the veteran guards possibly joining the Lakers.

It'd be a surprise for sure if Payton returned, but then again who would've thought that PJ would ever return? There's still hope...

True. PJ's crazy return was caused by what causes most craziness in the world: a woman.

not sure you can call it that. it wasn't like shaq called up damon jones, a career journeyman backup, to go sign with the heat

Yeah, but the point is that a big part of Damon joining the HEAT was that with the presence of the big guy, they were automatically a a title contender.

He preffered the HEAT because it was a contender.
I'm sure he had more offers. :P

HA! THat's a good one... okay so let's look back now, Payton signs with LA hoping to get a ring, fails, and opts for another year in LA. Meanwhile he gets traded to Boston and then when his contract is up, he wants to go back to a team without Shaq and Malone, making it the LA Kobes.

I think he'll take a rain check on that one.
