Big congrats goes out to Jeff Hornecek and Mark Jackson.

Wed Nov 20, 2002 7:34 pm

Jeff Hornacek for getting his number retired today by the Utah Jazz at half time of their game against the Suns and to Mark Jackson for moving past Oscar Robertson for 3rd place in all time assist. Mark Jackson did it in the first quarter on an Alyoop to Andrei Kirilenko (what a way to do it).

Yes, I know. I had to look deep for this thread but I knew for sure that it was somewhere.

Ex-Pacers guard can pass Magic Johnson for 2nd on all-time list when Utah visits tonight.

This would be as good a place as any for Mark Jackson to achieve his latest and greatest assist milestone.

After all, Jackson accumulated 3,294 of his 10,134 assists while playing for the Indiana Pacers during a peripatetic NBA career that has taken him to six franchises over 16 years, and he enjoyed many of his greatest moments in Indianapolis.

Jackson needs eight more assists to move past Magic Johnson into second place on the NBA's all-time list, at which point he'll trail only teammate John Stockton. If it doesn't happen tonight, when Utah plays the Pacers at Conseco Fieldhouse, it will happen soon.

A good playmaker doing his job quietly.

Did he get those 8 assists??

Sat Mar 15, 2003 11:06 pm

knicks should never of let him go

Sun Mar 16, 2003 10:01 pm

He's slow and can't defend. His style needs to suit your team, or else you'll get nothing out of him, he didn't fit with the Raptors, and it was so bad that he got traded with Muggsy Bogues for Chris Childs :|

Sun Mar 16, 2003 10:26 pm

No he didn't get those assists, I guess next time, lol.

Dan, Stockton is slow and his only defense are the steals, that's not all the defense you can call. Jackson uses his body to defend better than any other PG in the league, with good results which would be a miss for the opponent. True, he didn't fit the Raps, because he's getting old and his injured legs are not at his best, However I don't think Chris Child did so the trade was just 2 legends for a trash, not bad specially if those 2 legends were already about to retire. A disrespect I would say, but the team had to look for its own needs, you can see that when they are paying Hakeem to stay at home.

I don't really understand what you mean tby that last sentence.

About Childs, he was the best PG the Raptors have had when he was looking to pass. Good perimeter D.. but his shooting was pretty bad. And I was talking about Jackson, not Stockton where did you get him from? Didn't really make a point by mentioning him hehe. The Knicks were smart to let Jackson go...

Sun Mar 16, 2003 10:41 pm

I mentioned Stock cause he's slow too and still good like that, in fact I believe Mark fits better Utah than any other team, since utah fastbreak looks like slow motion fbreak,

i was referring to his leadership as well as his passing game, i dont care what you say, the knicks, this year would be a better team with him in the lineup

Mark got the assists needed to move into second place on the all time list but the Jazz got spanked by the CAVS!!! 122-95 - Damn that's an ugly loss. Ricky Davis had 28 points and 12 assists and the cavs shot 62% from the field- WTF

Mon Mar 17, 2003 10:29 am

hehe Ricky Davis attempted to shoot at his own basket so he could get the tenth rebound to get his first triple-double... but Stevenson fouled him... and Sloan was apparently very pissed off...

Mon Mar 17, 2003 11:05 am

Yeah Ricky lost some respect in my eyes for that shameful display.

Mon Mar 17, 2003 11:36 am

It even looked like the Cavs were trying to win!!! Such a shame to see this happen to the Jazz.

Mon Mar 17, 2003 11:36 am

haha...dang i missed that story.

Mon Mar 17, 2003 11:48 am

LOL! :D  He did that??

yer ricky's the man!
the cavs suck still but ricky can ball, also can pass, 5apg, thats good for someone on a bad team and who shoots like 30 shots a game.
ricky! ricky! ricky!

Tue Mar 18, 2003 7:02 am

Yeah, Ricky!! Keep shooting at your own basket!!

Tue Mar 18, 2003 7:06 am

Yeah, Ricky!! Keep shooting at your own basket!!

bad move i know, but you would have to have balls just to try that!

Tue Mar 18, 2003 7:13 am

Would YOU do that?? I know i wouldn't. I think he deserves a supension!

Tue Mar 18, 2003 7:17 am

i didnt say i would!!
i would have to sit the bench for like a month if i tried that!
thats why iam saying that he has got balls for trying it

Tue Mar 18, 2003 11:44 am

OK, i was just asking. Good answer; anybody would do that??

Tue Mar 18, 2003 2:56 pm

Ricky Davis sucks...

Sat Mar 22, 2003 9:08 am

he doesn't suck, that stunt he pulled sucked though. KG was an assist away from a triple double in 3 games this season. They won them all by ten or more and when they ran out the clock he coulda said "wally take this and score.' or something, but he didn't. He accumulated this through playing the game the way it's meant to be played.

i agree, iam a big ricky davis fan but after seeing the shot thing for myself ive lost a bit of respect for him, but anyway the cavs have fined him and iam sure he will be booed on the road every game

Sat Mar 22, 2003 10:47 am

Of course I would try to get a triple double but not through the methods he used. I probably never would in any games. I think the most rebounds I've gotten is 6-7, maybe 8. If I had 9 I'd stay closer to the hoop on defense, but that's all.
