But those sources have been in Africa doing miltary operations there. I think they know what they are talking about too. I mean, obviously civilian opinions are better but don't act like soldiers are stupid and can't give an honest opinion. That's just not fair to them.

They can give a honest opinion, but it can still be biased.

But how would it be biased? What are they biased for? They went to Africa, Iraq, Bosnia, and other countries and witnessed it first hand. I don't think it's biased.

There are tribes, but not tribals who need to be rescued from themselves. Usually ethneticity goes hand in hand with tribal belonging and it's just in recent yers that the post-colonial academics have started to revamp this.

I would say that someone who sees the country from a kill-or-be-killed POW is somewhat more biased than ...oh say someone who isn't. I have little or no faith in the empirical factuality of their experiences. Not to make those less real or important, but I don't think they explain the way things are in a satinfying way.

Not necessarily. I believe America would get heaps of praise if they upped the money, resources, or food to Africa or other poorer nations, for example, but when it comes to war with an ambiguous motive, that's a delicate issue that doesn't go quite well with the public eye, nationally and internationally.

What puzzles me personally, is that not a lot of effort was put into homeland security (primarily borders), or focusing more on terrorist networks and groups, but the primary focus suddenly became Saddam and Iraq. Since when Saddam and Iraq become terrorists that is a threat to America? It's hard to see the correlation between 9/11 and Saddam.

How can you say that though? America hasn't been attacked since 9/11, so what proof do you have that they have turned their attention away from their homeland security. Just becuase cbs or abc news doesnt report about it doesnt mean the government has shifted attention away from it.

Who, besides a select few that you know personally, is wanting this war? Who wanted bombs to be dropped onto their city or neighborhood? What makes you think the civilians want this war to keep going?

I can only go by what I hear. A nation and generations of supression now has some hope of a normal life, and the people are (from what ive gathered) are happy. I'd be pissed off if the coaliton leaves now, becuase i feel sorry for those that have died and those that would be there under a civil war. But progress has been made and the job is not done yet...

imo, if I want to hear about Africa's situation, I'd rather hear from sources in Africa rather than sources in the US. Same with Iraq.

Was there over two days to gather some material for an application that I'm writing next spring (for a Minor Field Study).

It's just as you wouldn't expect. Things work, but the land is ravished by war for many years, and you see alot of hurt people. When you walk around as a white person 50% of the people seem like they want to spit on you, and 50% want your help. So it's mentally tough to be there (or atleast was for such a short while). Other than that, I mostly met with other help organizations such as SIDA. Was in Maputu for two days, then went back to Marocco.

The coastline is beautiful, and if you don't know portugese you'll have a hard time talking to natives (which I don't so I didn't).

Nobody has died though from what I've heard. So that's good news.

Aparrently right now they're saying a London Bus had some sort of explosion but only suffered minor damage, and still no casulties. They're also saying that some witnesses are saying that in some Underground stations it sounded like something went wrong with the bombs and only the detonator went off.

There's been 1 injury and that's it. No one's died, the bombs didn't go off properly (I think one did but it did minimal damage). The only blasts were from the detonators exploding. Despite the fact that this entire thing has basically been cleared up for now, TV is still full of every single news service in the UK talking about the same thing over and over and over again

today a suspected suicide man was shot five times and killed. he jumped over the barrier on a tube station and nearby police men shot him. as he tried to run on a train.
this is good and bad because it shows that something is being done but it means that they are still around.

I just saw the interview of the guy the supposedly made the London suicide bombing (1st one). Its funny because he said he went to Saudi Arabia and when he comes back he sees his picture everywhere saying that he bombed the train station. People love to blame Muslims for everything....
