What gonna happen to the Lakers now?

Wed Jul 20, 2005 2:39 pm

a lower standard of a hughes... but i think theyll make the playoffs still

Wed Jul 20, 2005 2:42 pm

This move puts them back in the playoffs. The East will be very, very competitive for the final 2 spots.

Indiana, Miami, Detroit, Chicago, Cleveland and New Jersey are all locks in my mind.

Philly, Washington, Milwaukee, Atlanta, Orlando all have a shot as well.

Wed Jul 20, 2005 2:42 pm

Now Ridnour can play big minutes!

Wed Jul 20, 2005 2:52 pm

I wonder if we're going to start him and move Arenas to SG.

C: Haywood
PF: Jamison
SF: Butler
SG: Arenas
PG: Daniels

Other possibility would be:

C: Haywood
PF: ????
SF: Jamison
SG: Butler
PG: Arenas

Wed Jul 20, 2005 2:53 pm

Can't Daniels play SG? :?

Wed Jul 20, 2005 2:54 pm

How much cap room do the Wiz have?

Wed Jul 20, 2005 3:43 pm

Daniels is recieving $6 million a year, so he'll start at $5 million which puts the Wizards salary at about $42 million. So they'll have a $2-3 million.

Where's the PF? That's my reaction right now, but Marshall is out of the market, so I guess this is the best move avaialble. I'm still a little skeptical about getting a 30 year old PG/SG, I'm not sure how the lineup is going to work now, but this will be interesting.

I still feel the team needs a PF. Jamison just get's worn down and injured when he's at PF, and he's bad defensively. He still needs to post up more though, he used to post up a lot in Dallas, and he came to the Wizards and wanted to be a guard.

I can see Daniels playing as a ball-carrying 2guard. Butler and Jamison is a quality forward duo. Strong move by the wizards considering Daniels had alot of options.

There's rumors from The Denver Post that the Wizards are pursuing Buckner (Sixers). I don't think he's starting material though.

maybe there gonna put daniels in the Kwame brown trade to the lakers? I dunno I sertainly hope so

I pretty muich doubt it since laron Profit is part of the Brown deal and it wasn't LA not agreeing to a trade but it was more about Kwame agreeing to a 2 year contract.

I say start Daniels at SG as he is taller.

That doesn't make any sense.. Wizards aren't going to give up Daniels and Brown for Butler and Atkins. That's suicide.

No, unless the Lakers wouldn't have been going after Daniels themselves, and the signing would've been made before the trade actually went down, not after, and it's not possible because you'd have to sign and trade, but you can only sign and trade your own FA's. If the Wizards want to trade AD, they'd have to wait 3 months.

buckner was with the nuggets wasnt he?

i think AD was a better fit for the lakers, but i think he just didn't wanna play with Kobe. I certainly wouldn't. In washinton, he gets more minutes and chances.

Wed Jul 20, 2005 6:30 pm

He went there for the money. A 5-year deal with 30 million at his age? No shit, he would be smart to take that. Too bad Wizards are stupid enough to give him that. Look at what the Warriors offered Fisher for god sake. The Lakers would have been dumb to give offer the same to Daniels or Fisher. Do these teams ever learn? No wonder they never win anything. The Lakers were only offering a 2-year deal with the 3rd year an option at the MLE. Now, that's right. Even a three year is ok, but that's it. Anymore and it's a risk.

Hopefully this means the Lakers go for Dan Dickau 8-)

Wed Jul 20, 2005 7:16 pm

It doesn't quite make up for the loss of Hughes, but it's a good signing nevertheless.

But Butler + Daniels certainly do.. for now. Because I have a feeling Hughes will finally be in the right place in Cleveland, really hope so for him too.

Is Etan Thomas still with the Wiz?

Wed Jul 20, 2005 8:55 pm

Yes.

Phil just loves this kind of short guards :). I don't know why they didn't try to sign Jaric. Perhaps because he's still young and they're offering just a two year contracts.
