Anwyays... This a good move by Houston. Tmac was supposed to have made a ptich in this. He said that he believes ge can help Stro become an All-star so good stuff by Houston. Stro is someone they need to fill in gaps/holes... which was a post presence to take pressure off of Yao.

The Rockets are getting a big man who's been fairly solid when he gets PT that still has the potential to break out, and they did it without breaking the bank. Can't find too many things wrong with a move like that.

The real problem is in the backcourt, with everyone except Head over 30 and playing out of position...

This is a HUGE move for the Rockets, I would probably say this is the biggest move of the offseason so far (as far as the most impact on the team).

A team with Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming is good enough to compete in the West, but a team with Tracy McGrady, Yao Ming and Stro is good enough to compete seriously for the Western crown. I think this move puts them right behind Phoenix and San Antonio.

How about Dallas? Their backcourt is worse than a couple of years ago, but they could still just outplay Houston's. Who do they actually have? Bob Sura is a natural SG, so are Mike James and Luther Head. Who will pass the ball on this team?

I think Swift's a bit iffish, he would have been better off with the Hornets or Hawks. Hes attitude is one thats going to make Van Gundy go nuts soon and I'll see him having the same sorta relationship Mo Taylor had with JVG.

Its a good move in only a few ways I dont think Swift's going to be a big difference maker, hes kinda a moron in his common sense department. Donyell Marshall would have been the best choice considering he offers range and is a smart player aswell.

Stro's being seriously overrated by most of you guys here, but I guess every has their own opinion.

I think you're also underatting him. You have to remember that Swift was averaging 10.1 PPG and 1.53 BPG in only 21 MPG.

In 14 games as a starter this year he put up 14.8 PPG, 1.2 SPG, 2.00 BPG in 28.9 MPG. While I'm personally not very impressed by his rebounding, he has very good scoring and shot blocking abilities. Whether his scoring comes off just dunking, as long as the ball is going in the basket, but really he has a pretty average mid-range game, and can get to the line fairly well.

Rockets are gonna be fun to watch next season.

WOW, I didn't realize so many people liked Swift AFTER he left the Grizzlies And yea Swift is being underrated a little bit by saying he only is good for nice dunks, but he barely got enough time playing behind Gasol sometime and playing out of position. I always wanted him to be a starter by even trying to put Gasol at center, and when he started once all the players got injured, he went a period of around 5 games where he averaged 18ppg, 9rpg and 2.5bpg. His main problem is if he can produce every night though because he will take a couple of nights off then start back playing well again. He also cries alot about injuries that he shouldn't really have to miss games for, but he think he does. So I'm going to see if all that is going to change once he move to Houston.

Mafia, I always liked Swift, I just didn't like his attitude in Memphis. I think this move shows he wants to win, he's not just after a big contract or being a superstar. He knows he going to be the third option here, but he's accepting that in order to play for a team that can compete.

As for the person who brought up Dallas, I was a huge supporter of Dallas in the west last season, I even picked them to be a dark horse to go all the way to the finals. I think they will be right there with Houston next year, but I see this move as proof that Swift will play a role and not try to be a superstar, and it will lead to a lot of w's for Houston.

considering the contracts the other FA's have been signing, what's not to like about getting a halfway decent post player for the MLE?

This is a Jeff Van Gundy type of team with defense being the big thing. Yao and Swift will get there blocks and mcgrady can play some D. Just that backcourt needs to be worked on.

Signing Payton is a very good idea since Payton is still a good player. Though, he maybe old but he is still sufficient and effective on both ends.

This past season was not even the best year of his career, so it's not like he outperformed himself last season, and he was a foul machine last season also averaging almost 6 fouls [a foul out] PER 40 minutes.
