Man Commits Suicide after Learning Harry Potter Spoiler

Tue Jul 19, 2005 4:23 am

A rabid Harry Potter fan took his life yesterday after inadvertently learning a plot spoiler from the soon-to-be-released J.K. Rowling opus, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (Book 6)

Jude Ralston, 32, of Hudson, Ohio left a suicide note indicating that since overhearing the plot spoiler at a shopping mall earlier in the day, "I no longer have a reason to live."

Family and friends who gathered for a candlelight memorial outside Mr. Ralston's house remembered a man who seemed to live only for Harry Potter – and wondered if they could have done anything to prevent his tragic fate.

Its close but, this is probally the stupidest thing I have read all year.

 at this line-
"In my heart I believe that could have saved Jude's life, even if he didn't have one," she said

Dear God lol... as insensitive as it might be, and I'm sure SOMEONE will have a cry about it but this is possibly the most pathetic thing I've ever read.

"In my heart I believe that could have saved Jude's life, even if he didn't have one," she said

ROTFL! That's hilarious  she should do stand up

I read another one not long ago, about how a Liverpool soccer fan hung himself because they were being beaten 3-0 at half time by AC Milan in the Champions League Final... Liverpool scored 3 goals in the 2nd half and won the game on penalties.

ROFL! Man, what a burn. And the guy's dead too.

That was an extremely pathetic reason for killing himself. I don't understand people these days.

During the half time break. They ended up winning the game lol.

The thing that perplexes me here... is that he overheard someone talking about the end of the book at the shops. I know there's alot of older people who read Harry Potter, but it's mostly geared towards kids... now imagine some kids on their break from school just sitting in the shops discussing Harry Potter.

Basically what I'm getting at, is that there's probably a little kid out there somewhere who caused this guy to kill himself

ANOTHER thing... if he was such a huge Harry Potter fan that he was willing to kill himself for finding out the ending, why the fuck had he not finished reading the book?

And yet another thing... so if his purpose in life was to read this book, what happened when he finished it? Would it be like some sort of life support thing, where he'd read the book over and over again until the next one comes out or would he just kill himself after finishing this one?

That guy had a purpose in life for sure.... But I'm wondering, since he's 32, how the hell he managed to live before 1st book came out  ?

how the hell he managed to live before 1st book came out ?

"But when he started wearing that wizard hat around town, we really should have seen that as a cry for help."

... I'm not sure if I believe this article. Go to the site, it's written by a humour columnist and he adds something at the end about George Bush warning that other journalists were at large.

Nice questions raised by Jae and lpasso.sor.

 If this is the last book ever to be released, he might just kill himself as his life is fulfilled... or wait till the next movie or DVD set or something.

Ah, yeah *sigh* right.
Thanks for making me remember it

Tue Jul 19, 2005 6:07 am

The fact that he talked about it like it was a real relationship gives him 0.5 extra points which gives him a total amount of 10.5 points

Tue Jul 19, 2005 6:19 am

I think the fact that his internet girlfriend dumped him for another internet guy pushes that to about 12.5 points.

Tue Jul 19, 2005 6:25 am

She did?

I really doubt that it can become any more pathetic from this point though :(

BTW: Why isn't my new sig on all my old posts :(
