Round 1, Game 1
Wizards Open Playoffs With Close Win
All was decided in the last seconds.

-- Imagevs.Image
Washington 115 - - - Toronto 114

[ Box Score ]

The Wizards built momentum for the playoffs as they beat the Raptors in
their first opening round game. Washington ended the regular season with a
15 game winning streak and the playoffs are going by plan aswell.

Both of the teams started off nervous, they missed all of the first nine shots
taken. As the game continued the first seeded home team started to pull away.
Larry Hughes was the key figure of the first half as he scored 18 points on
8/9 shooting from the field. Morris Peterson and Rafer Alston led the Raptors
with 9 points each. Toronto trailed by 7 at the halftime.

The second half wasn't as glorious for Hughes, he had numerous turnovers in
the beginning of the second half but Arenas and Jamison were there to help the
team. The Wizards managed to hold their lead for a while, but great game by
Alston and Peterson brought the Toronto Raptors back, the game was tied again
with 4 minutes to play. It was a close one until Larry Hughes stepped up. He
created a great play for Howard and shot Washington's last 5 points as they
went 7-2 in the beginning of the last minute. Peterson pulled the Raptors back
with a wild three and the Wizards turned the ball over, but Jalen rose missed
the game-deciding long range 2-pointer.

He later confessed that he shouldn't have taken the shot. “I should have passed it
down low, i held the ball for too long and then there was nothing else to do than
shoot.” said Rose. Arenas, Player of the Game, on the match: “This game wasn't
as convincing as our last 15 games, but what can you do? Most of us guys are
playing for the first time in the playoffs, so we were all a bit anxious. But we
will handle it, don't worry.”

Round 1, Game 2
Wizards Go Up 2-0
Raptors fall to Wizards in overtime.

-- Imagevs.Image
Washington 129 - - - Toronto 125

[ Box Score ]

The Washington Wizards were stronger throughout the game, but we still needed
an overtime to decide the winner. The Wizards had 4 guys with more than 20 points
while Toronto was led by one man.

Washington was clearly the better half at the half. They led the Raptors 57-48 as
rookie Dwight Howard had already 16 points and 11 rebounds. Toronto's big men
were helpless against the 6'11'' 250 pound 19-year old power forward. Larry Hughes
and Gilbert Arenas had both 12 points and 4 assists at the time. Toronto was led by
Rafer Alston with 14 points and 5 assists but his impact was still to come.

The Wizards held on to their lead until the half-point of the third quarter. Alston went
ballistic nailing 4 consecutive 3-pointers in just 2 minutes. The teams were back at
where they started.

The game evened up and it was a close match. The Wizards made a break just two minutes
before the end of the fourth going up 115- 109. Its seemed to be over but once again it
was Rafer Alston to save the day. He set up Chris Bosh for a 2+1 play and nailed the
game-tying 3-pointer himself with just 18.4 seconds on the clock. Washington took a
timeout to set up their last play. Arenas held the ball for 13 seconds and then passed to
driving Larry Hughes, Hughes went up for the two but he couldn't hit the mid-range
jumper. The teams were tied at 115 and headed into overtime.

Washington controlled the OT all the way and gave the Raptors no chance. Hughes
who missed the game-winning shot was Washington's main force scoring 8 points
in overtime. Alston had not enough support from his teammates and Toronto lost
129-125.

“You can't say that I played selfish ball today,” said Alston later at the press conference.
“I took my shots outside and they we falling in, that gave me confidence to shoot more.
I'd say the cause of the loss is defense. We have allowed the Wizards to score 115 in
48 minutes in two consecutive games.” Larry Hughes felt like he had to lead the team
in OT. “I let the team down by missing that quite open shot at the end of 48 minutes.
There was nothing else to do, i had to contribute.

Round 1, Game 3
Wizards Sweep Raptors
Playoffs Round Two: Wizards meet Pacers.

Imagevs.Image
Toronto 90 - - - - - Washington 98

[ Box Score ]

The Toronto Raptors had very few options as the Wizards needed just one more win
to sweep the Canadian team. The supporters still believed, because this one was
almost sold out.

Toronto started the fight for survival early, taking a 17-8 lead in 6 minutes.
Unfortunately it didn't last for long. The Wizards, thanks to great passing caught
up by the half-point of the second period. The best players at the half were
Gilbert Arenas with 9 points, 6 assists and 4 steals and Jalen Rose with 21
points.

Toronto didn't have much luck in the second half and the Wizards pulled ahead.
Rose continued to shine while rest of the Raptors didn't. The biggest surprise was
the absence of Rafer Alston who averaged 34 points and 10.5 assist in the first
two games. He collected only 7 points and 5 assists tonight.

Washington played great defense in the fourth and didn't allow the Raptors
closer than the final 8 points. Even though Howard, Jamison, Hughes and Arenas
totaled 23 turnovers it was still a convincing victory. Arenas was the POTG
with 19 points, 11 assists and 7 steals.

Eddie Jordan rounded up the series: “Toronto played really good considering the
fact that we grabbed about 15 boards more in each of the games. Our boys were
a bit nervous in the beginning but the last game showed a bit more concentration.
That's good, because Indiana is a bit tougher opponent than Toronto was.”

Arenas played great defense despite his many turnovers. - - Rose's great game didn't save his team from elimanation.

The results of round one. Surprising are the elimination of the Minnesota
Timberwolves and Memphis' great game against the San Antonio Spurs.

Thanks, I was a bit suprised myself, I guess it 's all in the freethrows, for some reason I just can't/won't foul the oposite team.

I am kinda bored, but still I'm trying to end it, so you could atleast find out who wins the title.
