Yes, I've heard of him... he's 3 years younger than LBJ and people are calling him the next LeBron... All this media hype is bound to get at least 1 in every 3 great prospects burnt out...

O.J. is dominating his age level and beyond, but he's not really a PG... If he grows another inch or three, he'l probably be one heck of an NBA player at the 2 or 3 position... much like LBJ...

From what I've read about him and some of his quotes, looks like the kid's head is screwed on straight, much like Dwight Howards, which can only be a good thing. (Y)

I herad of him for awhile. He is in the same grade as me (going into 11th grade) and he is 17. He volunteered to be held back w/ fellow best friend and teammate Bill Walker who will be something special in the future too. In his first school, he had to move cause of the media calling his mom at work and stuff like that.

I was going to say fresh meat but I thought that may have been overly cynical of our beloved sport

This should be interesting. The NBA can always use another superstar to add to the competition in the future. Too bad about his name, though. Orange Juice Mayo?

lol, Once O.J Mayo gets into the league, analysts will say the next 16/17 year old Joe Bloggs highschooler is the next O.J Mayo and once that new kid gets in, he'll be the next Joe Bloggs. This is hilarious, wasn't LeBron touted as the next MJ? So now their saying O.J Mayo is the next MJ too?

People have been saying OJ was the next MJ since he was like 13. It's nothing new.

I don't get it. He was playing for his high school team when he was still in middle school? :? :?:

It's just confusing.... He's the next MJ because he is the next LeBron? So if the next phenom kid is John Smith, then the next MJ is John Smith because he is the next OJ who happens to be the next LeBron ..... stupid comparisons :x

 ... at the time the MJ/OJ comparisons started LeBron was still in high school and wasn't being as highly touted as he ended up being. I think it started mostly because out of nowhere OJ had a website with video's of him playing etc and people jumped on the bandwagon. That being said, I'm not 100% on this but I think he's actually like a 6'5 combo guard... so I don't really think he'll be like either MJ or LeBron.

He's listed everywhere as a PG, not as a PG/SG (or vice versa). I read somewhere that while he has great athleticism, he isn't really a freak and that could hold him down. But then again, I have read that about numerous players who turned to be great.

Em, 19. But I do believe Mayo will be 19 when he graduates, so he'll be eigible when he's 20 years old.

There's no more age limit I think, US prospects just need to have graduated from high school a year earlier (said it this way because not every one of them will go to college).
