Cavs could make a offer to Udonis Haslem

Cavs could make a offer to Udonis Haslem

The Cleveland Cavaliers missed out on top free agents Ray Allen and Michael Redd, so their immediate plans now include courting Heat free agent Udonis Haslem. Sources indicate the Cavaliers are interested in setting up a meeting with Haslem to convince the third-year forward he can be part of the team's future, and they could be prepared to offer Haslem more than the five-year, $33 million deal the Heat can offer.

Word among players is that LeBron James has become a Haslem fan after watching him the past two years and playing with him in the Rookie Challenge games the past two All-Star weekends.

Cavs pursuing Jasikevicius

According to two Eastern Conference executives, the Cavaliers are also in talks with Lithuanian point guard Sarunas Jasikevicius. The European standout is an excellent shooter, but a questionable defender that NBA teams have flirted with for years. Ilgauskas' best friend growing up, Jasikevicius, 29, reportedly turned down an offer from the Boston Celtics. The Indiana Pacers are believed to be offering him a backup role, but he'd like to start. The Cavaliers need a starting point guard and will still have salary-cap room even after a deal is done with Ilgauskas.

I don't think acquiring Haslem is a good idea. They already got two young and developing power fowwards; Drew Gooden and Anderson Varejao (however the hell you spell it).

I can understand that they want Sarunas though, Jeff McInnis isn't coming back.

My same thoughts and ye you spelled that right. It wouldn't be right to see Haslem or Gooden as a backup player in Cleveland.

Also if they acquire Sarunas, that would be great.

I thought Varejao was a C :? Like CB4 said, Sarunas would've be a great addition

Sun Jul 10, 2005 2:11 am

Unfortunately I think Sarunas is going to go to Cleveland. Fuck.

Come on Jasik!! Come to a team where you have a chance to compete for a title, not a team where you can play with your best friend, that's stupid.

As much as i'd like to see him in Pacers jersey, i don't want him to be a backup..he must be starter..but hell, i don't want to see Tinsley as backup too  Don't really know what i want  ..

If they indeed get Haslem, they coudl rotate Gooden and Haslem in the forwards positions. And place Lebron on the SG and PG position and SF from time to time. Gooden is more of a SF than a PF, he needs to muscle up and Haslem provides plenty of rebounds opportunities, and if they're successfull resigning Z, that would be a heck of a front court :D.

I wish the Cavs could put more emphasis on luring Joe Johnson, probably do a sign and trade for JJ for Hudges :)

It still doesn't make sense for them to go after Haslem. Why get Haslem just so he can be backup? Cleveland needs to be a little more smarter and stop getting too excited on which FA's are still available. They got Hughes, now they need to look for a good shooter because they lack 3-point shooting most of all. Jasikevicus will be a good addition, but they definitely need a nice shooter which I think they could probably go after Damon Jones.

If thats the case, Spurs will sign him too.

Why won't the Cavs start Gooden? He is a double-double guy.

Sun Jul 10, 2005 10:46 am

What the hell are you talking about? Gooden started 80 games last season.....

Double-Double means 10 points and 10 rebounds

Sun Jul 10, 2005 11:04 am

Adding Haslem would give them a lot of depth up front, but I agree he'd be superfluous, unless Varejao will be spending more time at centre. Adding Jasikevicius would seem to be a good move.

I'm not talking about what a double double is you turd, I'm talking about the part where you said "Why won't the Cavs start Gooden?"

And then to make you look like an utter dipshit I replied "Gooden started 80 games last season....."

I guess reading comprehension isn't one of your strong points.

That was funny, I honestly think he didn't get it. With such sincerity he explained what a double double was.

It'd be nice if he stuck with Miami, he did well along side Shaq. Why go from starter to bench?

That's true, perhaps to make people understand better, It's_Asdf should quote something like "what do you mean when you said Why won't the Cavs start Gooden?" This one is more clearer to understand.

no, it was pretty obvious from the start

True, I think Cavs shouldn't sign Haslem but Sarunas sounds like a good signage.

i agree with MJ23KD5, it was quite blatently obvious to me.

miami better be working hard to sign Haslem. They don't have the kind of money to sign another PF who's as good as Haslem. They could use the MLE, but they also need a PG, if DJ is gone. Speaking of the Heat, is Eddie Jones coming back to the HEAT?? He had about 14 mil for his salary and now, the heat can clear some caps. Hopefully he'll resign with a reasonable amont in the offseaon.

No, you just need to brush up on your reading skills.

I used this program when I was in grade 1, perhaps it may help you.
