Mon Jul 04, 2005 11:59 pm

never have been a fan of him myself, but i also never didnt like him either. to me he is just one of those players i never actually think or care about.

Tue Jul 05, 2005 12:17 am

lol I posted a thread like this awhile back. He's underappreciated, but yeah I'm a fan.

Tue Jul 05, 2005 2:12 am

In a while, theis section will be full of "Any Player X fans out there? "

Chris Bosh, Ray Allen, and counting... plus there's a Bogut and a Bynum thread...

I'm going to start my own Dan Dickau thread soon....

Tue Jul 05, 2005 2:31 am

Yes! A Dickau thread!

Tue Jul 05, 2005 2:37 am

Yes! A Dickau thread!

We'll be the only ones posting, but whatever... We'll start by bashing Chris Paul, okay?

Tue Jul 05, 2005 3:07 am

Wtf did they draft him for anyway, Dan averaged like 16/7 as a starter and this is the thanks he gets :(

I'll be there too if that's alright with you guys :)

I was thinking the exact same thing you guys were, how do they know Dickau won't be better than Paul? Plus Dickau has proven he can play in the NBA, with Chris Paul you don't know what to expect.

Dan Dickau for life! Wait, I'm going to put that in my sig!

Of course, with Jae's and Wolverine's permission to join the Dickau fan club. How about it guys?

Tue Jul 05, 2005 5:08 am

I am Dan Dickau's biggest fan. I watch the Hornets highlights everday on Sportscenter just to see if I can watch Dan Dickau play. I even have a Dan Dickau jersey.

Right on guys!

Tue Jul 05, 2005 7:02 am

Of course, with Jae's and Wolverine's permission to join the Dickau fan club. How about it guys?

You're welcome... Hehe, looks like Dan has some love after all... My guess is he won't resign with NO and take his game somewhere else... which would probably be better for him... Depending on where he lands after July 22, maybe I'll create the "OFFICIAL DICKAU FAN-CLUB" thread...

EDIT: Some Dickau news:

"[i]There are some great possibilities available to the Jazz in the way of free-agent point guards. Brevin Knight had a great year for the Charlotte Bobcats , and Dan Dickau put up some good numbers for the New Orleans Hornets once he got to see some minutes. Both are unrestricted free agents who could be signed for what Utah can afford to pay, although the Bobcats are believed to be highly interested in retaining Knight.[i]"

I like his jumper, but I'm not a fan of is, though I made and have a sig of him

Tue Jul 05, 2005 9:05 am

Definitely a fan, he's one of the few guys capable of averaging 30+ in a playoff series without resorting to raw athleticism like Kobe or Shaq or KG. Very smart player, but his weakness of not distributing the ball enough is a big downside. Kobe dishes out more assists than he does, which is saying something.

I agree that Ray doesn't distribute the ball well enough, but you can't compare him to Kobe, they have different styles. Plus Kobe doesn't have the worst assists average for a SF, somewhere around 6 apg.

Tue Jul 05, 2005 10:22 am

Hmmm i'm not so sure what's so different about their styles. Both will not hesitate to fire off a long range jumper if you play them too loose, if you play them too tight neither will hesitate to drive to the hoop, both have the ball in their hands most of the time and operate as playmakers in the SG slot. Kobe tends to go hard to the hoop for a dunk and Ray tends to go for a layup or short jumper, but statistically that's irrelevant, it's 2 points in the paint either way.

Tue Jul 05, 2005 10:32 am

Ray is a much purer shooter. Kobe would rather drive to the basket and create.

He's not put in the position. He said this year he'd do less ball handling, and he did. This year he still averaged 3.7 APG, but if you look at last year where he was doing more playmaking, he averaged 4.8 assists, and when he first came to Seattle and was playing PG he averaged about 6+ APG, and for those 29 games in Seattle, 5.9 APG. He's a very capable passer...

classy individual with a smoothe game...

it's nice that he and kobe have a little rivalry going now

i have a newfound respect for allen or maybe he just reappeared on the radar this past year (playoffs-wise)

he still has his share of bad games or forces those fadeaways but man he was pretty good in the postseason.. even without lewis, who stepped up this season as well...

Tue Jul 05, 2005 2:23 pm

I never was a fan of Ray Allen, especially since I didn't like the Bucks back in the days, but he really had an impressive year. It's just his playing style that I never really enjoyed, and his shooting style just really bothers me. He's a classy guy, and I respect him for that, but never enjoyed his game.

Tue Jul 05, 2005 2:55 pm

With Reggie Miller gone. Ray Allen is the best 3 point shooter in the league.

Tue Jul 05, 2005 3:52 pm

I'm a huge Ray Allen fan man, he's got one heck of a shot. Kinda awkward spin to it but knows what to do around hte perimeter. RESPECT fo muh brutha from anutha mutha... (im not black)

Their's still Peja...

Tue Jul 05, 2005 10:50 pm

first and foremost, I've always been a fan of Dan Dickau's....heck, in my 2nd Toronto Raptors dynasty I traded away Skip in a deal and he was the prize and he's my starting PG :P I like all the Zags :P

as for Ray Allen....hmmm....don't really like him, but I like that Jesus Shuttleworth guy (Y)

Id love to have Ray on our team even though it would mean giving up on Corey + Wilcox + Someone else + A Pick.

Our options are either Ray or PP and Id go with Ray cause hes more level headed and the fact that he can play the point at a decent level is a bonus considering our weakness at the point.

But Ray definitely is a good player, sad to see players of his and TD's calibre who are so fundamentally sound not become very popular. As Scottie's said, the games are more hip-hop/street game these days with the high flyers and the g-ballers getting all the loving.

Course I cant hate on yall since I too find TD extremely boring to watch.

Btw, I think Ray is the best three ball shooter out there. Peja has a set jumper and unlike Ray he doesnt release the shot very quickly and of course he plays for the damn Queens. :x

Ray is going back to Seattle, its official.
